It's kind of like "remember that red corvette?"

I'll be honest. I definitely didn't expect every reply to be a "wtf, why would you do that?"

          Thank God.

A wrap is a different animal compared to doing that to a paint perfect car.

Still think the cost of the wrap would be a poor use of financial resources, but then again I like oem +, but that's just me.

As you've been a member for five years I'm sure you'd anticipated what the general reaction would be to this thread on this particular forum.

Post photos if you do wrap it.

I've never really asked any artistic questions I guess.

To me it's similar to comparing a jackson pollock painting like such

            To something like this.

            I prefer the pollock.

Patina is the correct word for this, not what "cool kids" call it.

The idea was inspired by mad max, and is an idea, which is why I asked for pictures. I've always liked different. It's easy to pay someone to paint the car a simple solid color.

I've always hated chrome too. Every American hotrod has to be chromed out and it's really not creative at all. The other ideas I had were a digital camo wrap. The paint on my audi is just fine currently.

Actually the term patina is traditionally used to describe the ageing effects on natural surfaces such as leather and wood... using the term to describe this fake / trendy / cool *******isation of a vehicle is fundamentally wrong, but hey - each to their own.

Wrong audience here I'm afraid, as you've found out

In many ways we're just as daft, removing perfectly good parts in pursuit of something better of different.

It's your car, so do with it what you will. I'm sure it'll look different and be a talking point wherever you take it or post pics.

Im not a fan of the rat look personally, but I see a MK1 VW caddy that has it in Northampton town centre with pristine chrome Beetle wheels, actually looks like the only exception to the rule
