URS4 URS6 Daily use, current values etc

I am obviously drawn to the URS4/6 more than just the glorious AAN singing under the bonnet,

I carry 3 other humans on a weekend and want space in the back for them to, be adult and child humans.......... playing top trumps, throwing crisps, chocolate and wrappers everywhere, using tablet devices and occasionaly being sick in the back

I was going to buy a Kia/Hyundai people carrier type thing but after a chat with the big humans they talked me out of it due to the little use while in human transport mode and asked what I would use it for when we aren't using it purely to transport, Daddy, Ben (5yr old) Grandma and Grandad on various journeys across Norfolk/Essex and the answer is, um, nothing!

Even if I move house I will be at work within 10 minutes on a bicycle so will most likely not use the car, I am currently taking 4 mins to/from work via bicycle.

I will be looking to buy a URS4/6 as a daily in November/December and wanted some feedback on current values of cars in saloon or Avant guises, I am happy to own either.

I also have no prefance over saloon/Avant, Would prefer a manual but would consider a cheap Auto and convert it to manual,

What are the Transmission parts availabilitys on the used market currently like?

Any Feedback greatly appreciated before I go hunting myself

Ive owned in the past 2x URS4`s a few B4 Quattro`s and another AAN powered car so have good and bad memories but id like current feedback please chaps!

    Cheers, Sean.

I'm using mine daily. It's a sedan. While sometimes I want to hack and burn it, most of the time I feel like I have a gem on my hands. It's very reliable when working properly. I haven't experienced a single issue since the rebuild.

Space is not an issue at all, I guess even less so in the Avant. Sedan specific parts are fairly thin, at least here. Avant parts can be hoarded. About the value, I've seen it vary from 2.8k euros to 5.5k or more for very good examples. Pity that these cars are disappearing in fairly fast tempo's...

My Avant is a daily and can't complain. Comfortable and fast, what else can you wish for? Most of them come with 4 electric windows, mirrors and climate control and AC which is really all you need.

Same as Rich I want to burn it every now and then but most of the time it puts a huge smile on my face. 6 speed manual is a must, don't even know why they offered autos

By the looks of it prices have gone up, I bought my last one for £2k but most are now going for £3.5k+. UrS6 seems to be more widely available than UrS4's.

EDIT: And of course space, there is so much of it in an Avant. With the seats down its size of a van.

Amen on the 6-speed manual. I swapped a 5-speed to a 6 from a B5, and every time I shift, it's exactly in the turbo powerband. Greatest swap ever...

Most important is that it's not a rust bucket. Engine can be rebuilt. Battling rust is another task altogether.

6 Speeds are always more driveable and easier going I found in the past with my other ones

Well having decided to buy an Avant when the time is right, I will be looking for a few "ad on bits" that I am finding very illusive to find for sale......
Rear spoiler / heckspoiler for Avant models,
Good quality tailored floor mats for C4/S4 chassis cars

Rear wheel arch extensions, possibly from S6+ or something, seen a few pics with these fitted, are they OEM or aftermarket?

Are there any wheel upgrade / picture threads for URS4/6 Avants about?

I'm not sure whether there's a spoiler available that fits over the standard tailgate. The one I have uses a different tailgate specific to models with rear spoiler.

Tailored mats should be available. I have some with the S4 logo. I think there was a group buy on here some time ago. Possibly from Autostyle.

The arch extensions you may have seen are OEM but incredibly rare. From memory I think that they were only really for the Italian market for some reason.

There's definitely a wheel thread on the Audiworld forum. Not sure there's one here. I've had the original RS6 wheels, BBS CH and have just got hold of some original S8s which I've wanted for years. I preferred the 5 spoke RS6 to the CH wheels. Easier to clean!!
'93 S4 Avant now back on the road complete with new shiny go faster bits.

As Merlin says those OEM rear arch trims are extremely rare and were for th e italian market and possibly another country.

As for wheels just get a set of 18" S8 d2's on there and be done with it or the very nice 17" x 8j plus specks.................

my car below when it had lowered springs on it. Looked nice but so harsh.

IMO Bolero's also look nice on the UrS. And A8 R18's.

I'm sure there was a repro of the rear arch extensions a few years back, 2009/10?!!

I bought my first URS4 way back then, awwwww

                  Then I was hooked

It was a black saloon/sedan on 18" BBS RH wheels and looked the ti77s!

and I'm sure there was talk of them being S6+ options or something that got repro`d but my memory isn't as good these days lol

I googled wheel searches and those 7 spokes on the S6 are 100% what I was looking for Rich, I was on 12v.org pages for hours perving over them and deciding over those 7 spokes, 18" Avus, B5 RS4 wheels/reps etc, and fifteen52 Tarmac wheels (Compomotive MO Flat face are THE best wheel ever produced, these are replicas of this!)
And I am a massive Cosworth nut aswell so my 4x4 Sapphire WILL be on MO`s or, most likely fifteen52`s!!!

the pages and pages of pics are awesome Rich, thankyou

                  My first URS4 >>>>>>>>

Merlin, I fear you might be right about being tailgate/spoiler specific fitment, I guess I will wait until I get an Avant and go from there, plenty high spec cars I can rob a tailgate from when they get stripped...

Vorsprung, I LOVE LOVE LOVE S8 Avus, but at 7/800 a set........ I love fifteen52`s more
I know I should love S6+ wheels but I just don't, they are chunky fat spokes but I just don't like them, I feel ashamed
