    Mounts , engine and gearbox

So the mounts look fine, engine and gearbox , but as they're orig I bet would you replace as a matter of course.. , ? No splits or rubbing pressure marks, but guess they'll degrade ?

Gearbox mounts seem to last forever. Engine mounts take a beating and often look ok until you take them out of the car and realise they are in two bits!

Usually the one on the passenger side on LHD cars fails as the engine rotates like it wants to pull that mount up and pressure the other 1 down.
Mine was also looking fine but after taking it off it was almost falling in 2 pieces.
I have polyurethane mounts now and everything is much better. Slight rattle on the idle but nothing worth mentioning.

If you take them out and inspect then you'll be able to see date marks and give them a proper look over. If they're not broke then maybe not worth replacing, unless you're going to do lots of track days or fit a HUGE turbo...

When I replaced engine mounts they looked fine till I took them off, if they're not split they'll be sagging. Old ones were about 0.5-1cm lower than new ones.

Gearbox mounts are shagged .. engine mounts seem ok , dropped gearbox and subframe down as one , and also the gear linkage gaitor is shot too.

Not in two but there movemont on the stud.... so oe ones from AT an eye watering 100 euros plus each , wondered if any one has used the " Genuine Febi " ones on ebay lol. . Only doing the rs2 conversion so not tracking or mahoosive thrust! But want em to last so I don't have to change em again hopefully !

Genuine Febi is still genuine crap

If you want them to last, get OEM. 20 years & 150k miles is hard to beat on value for money

I agree , just wondered how good the " genuine copies " actually were.. I've gone OE on all other bits like subframe bushes , and door seals at around £500 for two !!?? 😳😖so these are a bargain !!😣
