I know I'm nosey, but it's like some of us on here are 'friends' of a kind. Just curious why the emigration and what fall ?

Do not answer either unless you feel fully comfortable as it is a 'public' forum.

Best wishes with your future living and car plans for 2017 and beyond.

      Kindest regards.

      Heya Dave,.

No worries for asking at all.

I'm not on Faceache either mate, nor will I ever be! It personifies everything I hate about the modern age of constant communication. The only social media I use is this forum, Classic-Audi, The Corrado forum and I guess one could include eBay. Obviously I also have an email address, in fact I have two.

I was planning on being brave and moving too Canada to see if I could find a job in the Gold mining industry or perhaps construction as I have good mechanical skills and am a competent carpenter. I had been trying to find a job for this coming season so I could get out there, gain a feel for the place and see if I think it could work for me. However one really needs to be there ready work at a moments notice in order to bag the sort of job I'm after, it's surprising how much competition there is to go live in the more remote areas. So I was going to go over for a long holiday this summer and get the lye of the land so to speak, I figure I'm 40 years old, still single and would like to see a bit more of the world.

However a couple of weeks after smashing up my S2 I took a really hard fall down a flight of concrete stairs at work, knocking the stuffing out of myself, in particular my knees resulting in a lot of lost wages and permanent injury. It was a couple of months before I could walk properly and in the building trade that pretty much stuff's you. Then to make life all the more fun I got a chest infection over Christmas which evolved into pneumonia and fluid on one lung.

I'll leave my moaning there but suffice to say I had an awful start to 2017.

Still I'm generally feeling better now but between the two I lost a hell of a lot of wages so my plans to go exploring north America will have to wait.

Disagreeing with all of the above chaps- I'd reccommend a big power all purpose wagon for the Highlands- you'll want the space and load capacity...plus comfy is good if you got injuries to look after!

Oh and come and put a nice fast I5 into one of my old Hiluxes for me, will you?
        Hey Col.

I've got the 2.8 V6 100 for regular duty, it's got enough grunt for a daily and loads of room in the back for tools and bit's of car etc. It's only done 115K so just about run in, am currently in the process of giving it a good service so I can rely on it.

I've got a load of stuff to sell before I even think of moving and the complication of owning half a house with my brother but long term wise I could see myself being very happy in the far north. Plus I'm going to have to find work up there so I have much to consider.

I5 into a Hiluxe wouldn't be that hard, there's plenty of space in the engine bay which is a good start, mating it to the transmission is the challenge but I'm sure an adaptor plate could made up to do it. It's certainly not a conversion I've ever seen.

Anyways thanks for all the warm welcome back chaps, it looks like the B3 chassis is the way to go, their very light weight and I've got all sorts of great parts stashed.

Didn't realise your knee was so bad, Kit- hope the op helps....
If you want a temp.base to get a feel for work/living opportunities soon then my dad's house is presently empty whilst he longstays in hospital- not the west but lovely spot(Lossiemouth)and easy to get over to West for exploration /sussing out things. Just a thought!

Get yourself up to the Isle of Lewis Kit and i'll give you the grand tour. There's a very strong car community up here, plenty like minded Audi enthusiasts to meet. Some cracking locations with beaches a plenty to choose from.

A lot of people move up here from down south to enjoy the remoteness and safety of the Island, the roads are fairly quiet so plenty opportunity to enjoy your toys as there's very little road traffic police to get in the way, or speed cameras!!!

If your planning a visit be sure to get in touch!!
