    Audi 80 Cabriolet 2.6 Questions

    Hi Guys, I hope all is well. I had a few questions that I was hoping you guys could help me out on.
    This Christmas I bought my self an 80 Cabriolet 2.6 V6 ABC engine, it’s a 1995 model.
    Lovely car. Now I am planning to sort out a few small problems that it has.
    1) The water temperature gauge, works when it wants, sometimes it works, other times it doesn’t. But the car doesn’t over heat, as the fan kicks in after a while and when the gauge does work, it sits around 90.
    2) The oil temperature gauge, doesn’t work at all. I have had the gauge out on the bench and tested it separately, and the actual gauge does work, can it be a sensor somewhere.
    3) What should the oil pressure gauge show, mine when running shows at around 4/ 4.5
    4) What is the oil capacity? Im planning to flush the oil with engine cleaner.
    5) Is it possible to adjust the clutch? My clutch at the moment is very high, it’s almost the last 2/3 cm. I have checked to see if its slipping, but all seems to be fine.

    Any help would be much appreciated.

    1) Probably the sensor is dying. Mine did the same until it died completely.
    2) Could be a dead sensor or an issue with wiring
    3) Around 2 bar when warmed up
    5) It is a sign of worn clutch. Even though it is not slipping, it will most likely need to be replaced soon.

      Thanks Klobster, do you know where the oil and water sensors are located?

        As above except;

        1) If they are UN4 gauges, they have an issue with poor contact between the gauge and the circuit board, remove the nuts from the back of the gauge where it contacts the circuit board and put star washers underneath. If that doesn't work, then look at the sender.

          Oil sender is by the oil pump, RH side, just behind the crank pulley.

          Edited as just realised is a 2.6!
