Has this problem as well Greg when trying to get a quote online. Phoned them up and declared mods with no problem.

Upon renewal, I normally follow this strategy with our proud forum sponsor Sky Insurance.

        1. Receive renewal notice
        2. Choke at unreasonable and unjustified price hike based on your 10 years of being a loyal customer & not making any claims during your whopping 2000 miles on the public highway.
        3. Call them and tell them to make like a tree and go **** themselves.
        4. Wait two days.
        5. Ring them back, tell them to go **** themselves again. Then tell them you are not renewing and found a cheaper, better quote from a competitor.
        6. When they ask you which competitor & their price, make something up that is about what you want to pay.
        7. Have a brew while they "speak to their underwriter".
        8. When they ring back to tell you their policy is better and offering you some piece of **** courtesy car as an add-on, tell them to go **** themselves again.
        9. Hang Up.
        10. When they call back again, matching the price you made up - accept it.
        11. Done.

They are all *********. Unless my existing insurer sends a renewal for either the same price or are competitive when I compare a few meerkats, I leave them on principle even before giving them an option to price match. Balls to them and their lack of loyalty.

£900 sounds terrible but when I think about it and your age, I would say that is not bad really. Get past 25 and it will be a third of that. Don't ever recall paying more than £300 for my S2. In fact I pay more for my piece of crap Leon, although I guess I can do more than 4000 miles in that.

I wouldn't bother with agreed value. You would surely get more than £500 if the worst happens. Just go for the most competitively priced quote and don't crash ha ha. Good luck

I was with Direct Line for years, didn't think there was anyone better and then they were taken over by RBS. It was tollerable for a few years but service went down and prices went up, so I left. I wouldn't be surprised if they have lost so many customers they have had to get better but as far as I am concerned they have lost my trust...and I found someone better

Thanks for all the input lads. I am not saying £900 is a lot, I'm saying that £200 increase is a joke considering I've been on the road for another year with no claims. Paid 1500 first year, 860 second and just over 700 in my 3rd.

I'll call up all the suggested companies and report back on what they can do for me.

Two to call are Herts insurance and A plan. Piotr just had a good quote from these guys and I,m with Herts on my T4 campervan. The 10 v 23 Ng and agreed value on the S2. Although they messed me about a little on that but all good in the end. I think all insurance company are shoot you only really no know how good they are when you make a claim. Wouldn't go to A flux coz one off the post's on here about the company they used went bust so left the fella uninsured and flux said you can drive car but don't crash. Anyway good luck and happy hunting. Kind regards Lynn.
