    Insurance time again...

So, Sky decided to put my premium up nearly £100, which is a complete joke and makes me feel great for being a customer for many years

I had agreed value on the old girl and she's quite modified, so compare the opera singer is no use.

As ever, the new inflated price will be reduced if I buy before next weds, as an 'incentive'. Thanks.

So, who do you recommend? ATEOTD, they're all rip-off merchants, so which one is the best of a bad bunch?

Hmmm sounds like i'll be getting the same treatment with them in a month or two then when my renewal is due!

We really are struggling with places that can insure modified classics, as the more traditional houses wont insure many modifications to a classic, and the only other people are the Sky's and Flux's who are just brokers to pretty much the only remaining underwriter - Markerstudy, and with whom you're competing against your modified Scooby's and other Chavmobiles to insure.

It was a couple three yrs back but I used to have the S2 (modified, wheels, exhaust, hybrd turbo, blah blah blah) with Elephant. Ok I doubt they will do agreed value but they were happy to cover it and the cost was perfectly reasonable, about 300quid from memory.

Out of interest, I did read the other day that Insurance renewals on average are £60 more this year. My renewal came through the other day for my daily dagdag and as usual I was horrified to see it had gone up despite a year of loyalty and still no crashes and bucket loads of NCD etc. The premium was £30 more than the previous year. As usual I headed straight to Aleksander Orlov and was amazed that actually my insurer was actually offering the best available quote. First time for everything, so for the first time ever, I am letting it auto renew.

Good luck finding the right cover. They are all *******s

Adrian flux worked for me, Mint RS2, driveway overnight, mods on engine, turbo, full Wagner kit, brakes, BBS wheels, chip, £360, me fully comp for any car £16, keycare £15, agreed value £65
That's not bad considering golf R £300, slower and worth less
Phone them, don't try web quote

Aplan insurance worked for me, now have 3 cars with them, 1984 Ur quattro £112,
Coupe GT 1987 £132, S2 1991 £169, all under classic car insurance and fully comp, I do live out in the sticks in Scotland, all cars max 3000 miles, classic car policy dose not have any NCD, but still very cheep insurance, did try them with my diesel golf but found cheaper on net.

Seems Markerstudy are pretty much the only underwriter who will cover the S2... Means I may have to pay what I'm told
