Aaah I can't wait ! let it snow!
Quattro and snow aaah, the feeling when you drive to the mountains to ski, up a steep hill you catch up a beemer or mercedes... drive up on they're side, make a grin and then floor it
You git I went to Whistler in Jan 2003 and was looking forward to powder days just like that.......................but it rained most of the time. Temp very rarely dropped below freezing, just my bloody luck
Oh well Vail, Colorado in Feb. Lets hope I get powder
heh - i was in Whister in late nov/early Dec last year and they had the worst start to the season in 8 years according to people we spoke to - they were all apologising for the quality of the snow ...We were skiing on ice in Lake Louise while they were blowing snow 24/7 to get the world cup piste sorted.
The snow in france in january was awesome - not seen anything like it in over 10 years of going... and that pic was taken at 1650m was thigh deep powder for much of the week.
This coming season - nothing, though i did manage a days skiing in Tignes in mid october
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!!!!!, 2 years ago me and a couple of mates took a digicamcorder to a local business park on a sunday when it had snowed all the night before, we booted out my mates girlfriend with the camera to film us in the cars. Was a class day out, managed to get the car sliding quite fast backwards while i went through the gears and managed to hit 140 mph backwards!!!!

Snow+4WD+summer tyres = nightmare!! If summer tyres are fitted, FWD is much safer and predictable than 4WD on the white stuff. In the snow earlier this year I couldn't even touch the throttle without all 4 wheels losing traction especially on the compacted stuff). I live about 2 miles from David, S2driveruk.
It is not worth running winter tyres in the UK because we rarely get snow or really cold weather.
When I am at my folks place in Wales first thing I do when it snows is get their Golf runabout (or my stripped out Scirocco) out for a blast around the lanes. Great fun on fresh snow, pushing harder and harder. And you just bounce of the hedges when you screw up! I have a complex of about 200 miles of rather unused country lanes at my disposal that I know like the back of my hand (every bump, turn and projecting rock). Love it! Even better at night too as you can see cars coming from miles away. No people, no houses, bliss.
Actually when it is not snowing it is the best place to make passengers kack themselves when I take them in the S2...especially on dipped heads so they can't really tell which way the road is going to go. Most of my passengers take on new religions when I hit the lanes with them alongside...snow or no snow.

We dont get none of thik there white stuff down these parrrrts. I wish it would snow too so I could drift the car all the way to work. Last time i drove in the snow was with my old MK2 Polo. Would have been safe if it didn't have over 125bhp!! Just span all the way to work.

summer tyres on very compacted snow? Fergerraboutit!! Was a nightmare last year even with 4wd. altho not as bad as some idiot in a Nissan 200 who put the foot down and was snaking to the right into another car.
Hopefully if it happens this year will have to go to the local MFI car park and let loose
