In which case the company (which sounded an awful lot like Are Eh See) would have been breaking the law. Given that one company thinks along these lines, it's not unreasaonable to assume (legal or not) that there will be others too. I'm not a lawyer, so am not going to pretend to know whether they can actually get away with it or not.

Needless to say, I laughed at those terms and promptly went somewhere else... and got cover for somewhat less than 50% of the premium that the above company wanted, and which repairs/replaces to my spec.

      Ck.

PS I sense people running off to read their small print.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Well got my renewall from Oiliphant this morning, £463 fully comp. That's pretty competitive isn't it? Tried Adrian Flux and they couldn't get under £700.

Don't know if anyone has tried www.confused.com on the internet. They search the best prices at the moment and give you a long list of the best ones.

I ended up getting the S2 insured with 6 years no claims for £360 per year and I am only 27.

I used to be £750 per year and just by using this website it cut my insurance in half.

As i've found out to others misfortune paying the lowest premium isn't the be and end of insurance.

what about agreed valuations and buy back clauses?

Did you know that elephant don't like to give the person a buy back on any cat damage, there some very tricky fine print!

I am nervous about Elephant's fine print that's for sure. Further research required. I am really desperate to reduce my outgoings at the moment though and a 100 quid is not to be sniffed at...

                Try Footman James.

I've got all my cars insured with them on a Multi Vehicle Policy...
2 Porsches, Audi RS2, VW Camper, 1962 VW Type 3, all have agreed value and the premium is about £900.00.

and that's with a 25 year old female as a named driver as well!

A previous incident with my Audi 80 took out the rear bumper - and that was painted to match the rest of the car (not stock for a 1991 2.0E). The insurer paid for the replacement and painting of the bumper, not merely replacing the bumper.

It is legal if you don't dispute the small print when you take out the insurance.

If your over 28 Admiral quotes are cheaper than Elephant.

I spoke to both and Admiral target a higher age group which is why the quotes are cheaper, where as Elephant is for the younger drivers.

                            Hi,
I am currently with HIC. my renewal is just up at £750. Thats with limited mileage to 5000 and an agreed value of £20000. They and Adrian Flux were the only companies to offer an agreed value on my car due to all the mods and HIC just seemed a friendlier bunch.
Before the turbo mod I was insured with Greenlight who seemed qui9te competitive- but they don't offer agreed value.
                            Cheers
                            Chris

I'm going to get a quote off them tomorrow hopefully Chris. I'm now thinking agreed valuation is the way ahead, especially with a modified car.

Hi, Give GSI a ring 01933 411888 & ask for Marcus. (not the other's)
My boyfriend has used them for years now, changed his car loads, & always saved him money.
Marcus sorted me out when i done a few engine mods to my gti-6 when my current insurer refused & gave me 7 days to get it back to normal, LOL!!! Marcus done a great deal on me supra aswell.
Marcus is very much a fast car person, as used to drag race at pod.
Also he is down to earth.
Tell him Tina gave him your name.
(Its not what you know, its who you know )
                                Good Luck

                                Tina.
