    Check your toolboxes...

Come across a small problem before i start with my caliper change....need to source some M12x1.5 40mm caphead bolts. Seems I cant get them from my local nut/bolt specialists so by any chance has anyone here got some laying around?

    Cheers

Er, do you need high tensile ones if you are using them on the brakes??

    Just a thought

I'm not sure why you need 40mm bolts, but I got my high tensile M12s for my brake upgrade from Audi. It was the only place I could get them.

        Here's the ones I used:

        Carrier - Strut. N 100 880 03 (M12x1.5x25mm) £0.95+VAT each
        Calliper - Carrier. N 100 650 02 (M12x1.5x70mm) £1.52+VAT each

If that's any good to you?

          N 100 880 01 / N 100 436 02 was the ones I used for the RS2 upgrade.

:-) noooo no hardware store specials.....

The reason i need this size is that I am using the brackets that martinjs made.

@mikeS2 what are the dimensions of those u quote and are they a caphead as opposed to hex?

                Cheers all!

They have sorted me out in the past with loads of odd sized bolts upto 12.9(tensile strength) which is more than adequate for what you need, next day delivery usually.

Short ones are 25mm and the long ones are 65mm

Not sure why you want cap head. You can see what they look like here:

I'm guessing Martin's carriers are thicker than the RS2 or Seat carriers. Maybe they also have a recess for socket caps.
Mine look the same as Mike's.

This type of bolt is usually reffered to as a "cap head" Mike.
