    Err why?

I might do, as I have now been here for a while and realise the value of this forum, but you will probably prevent new people joining and the real power of this forum is passing on the experience of you guys to the newbies. Why would a newbie pay up front to join something that they do not understand the value of?

Without newbies tuning in and asking questions, the forum could stagnate. That would turn it into a site full of experience owners, just passing the day with mindless chat (and good jokes).

If you are asking as the forum needs funds for server upgrades etc, then why not start with donations or forum sales (keyrings, tax discs etc)?

    Cheers n

It was a question to prove a point. Most of this forum would disappear up their own sleeves if they had to put any money up front. There are discussions going on at the moment with regards to joining the 'Audi' club thingy, but wont allow any internet forums. Only 'clubs' are allowed. This is NOT a club unless you pay membership.

So lets set the membership at £1 - payable after 3 months. The first 3 months would be free to allow new members in.

Even better, have an area that only members can see, but the rest of the site is free access. The members area would simply have a list of members

Fulfils all the requirements as far as I can tell

        Cheers n

that proves it. Your not prepared to pay the money. Are you saying that this forum hasn't saved you at least 20 quid?

Actually I said that I would pay, but advised against it for the sake of the viability of the forum.

Therefore, fullfil the rules, make a single membership page and charge a quid so we can act like aa club for the sake of recognition, but remember, a forum is an open discussion, not a private club.

P.S. Also, far from saving me £20, it has cost me ****** hundreds, I have a whiteline on order, have £500 of Porsche brakes and many other mods :mischeif:

I think the S2 Forum/Club is worth £20 at least, with the current amount of varied info on it.
If you do put a cash figure on it, will the information on the Forum have a reduced number of sources?

I would pay the funds, basically because I like this forum the best out of all the ones I use. I have learned a lot, and hopefully have helped some others here. I like the idea of the first three months being free though. Then newbees could get used to the forum and then decide whether they would like to pay to stay.

I more than saved the cost of the of membership putting my front brake upgrade together with infomation I gleamed from this forum and others. I did it for less than 1000 USD. I put together my rear brake system the same way, and saved a lot of money.

I would pay. I like this forum and the information that people exchange freely on it.

                  I think that the idea of generating funds through subscriptions or buy any other method could be of real use to members i.e in possibly reduced cost on parts, insurance, information exst ,Lets have a few ideas . {from little acorns and all that}

I would pay too cos I am the one who is looking for info, but how about others like Mihnea, Mark H, Audiman...etc... They dont need to pay for getting any info, they should get paid for there info.
                    Thats my 2p..
                    cheers

But if they generate a business for being here shouldn't they pay into the system as Martyn (VAG parts) does on Audifans?

Ok. How would we work out who's useful to the forum? And whether they're useful enough not to have to pay?

We are talking about membership to a club, not who's useful or not. Even if the membership was only a fiver, the idea is it helps pay for meets, PLI, banners, discounts etc......

I would happily pay as well, the sheer volume of knowledge being shared amongst members on here on its own would have saved people huge amounts of money on garage bills.

That said, its also meant we've all spent thousands as its now easier to beef up the cars LOL.

This is the only site i'd happily pay for
