    ............

As an outsider looking in here I hope I can put my 2 centsworth in here.......I've always loved the rs4...recently sold my 2003 M3 to a guy with an RS4.....he wanted to do a deal but after driving it I was less than impressed....ok, you can tune the hell out of them, unlike something like an M3 but that is not the point...the car felt like absolute barge compared to the M3......after he agreed to the buying my car I did feel a bit braver and admit that I realised why he wanted to change (no flames please )........ for me the engine was just too smooth, no sense of urgency or feeling......compared to the 5 cylinder turbo it was a BIG let down.....when you take depreciation factors into the equation it is an even easier choice in my opinion....get the RS2.............

hummm, maybe his rs4 didn't had all is power when you tested it... what i saw and feeled rs4 pull harder than m3... even tunned (ligther) m3's... and in "street racing" events of here, rs4 owners do 250km/h to top speed tests with bikes...

But i love m3, it have an awesome look and MPG is perfect when we are gentle it the pedal, my boss said that he is doing 8~9L/100km in normal use...

Worth keeping an eye on the following places:
        eBay
Autotrader, including the Top Marques section.
The used car finder on Audi UK
Fontain who are currently listing 3 RS4's and sometimes have RS2's.

Or do what I did to find my S2: phone your local Audi dealer and tell them what you're interested in. Although they didn't have one, they did keep their ear to the ground for me, and phoned up when they knew of one. It wasn't even one they (or any Audi dealership) were selling - which I thought was damn fine service. Depends how good your local dealership is though.

        NCT any of the above.

        Ck.

I had an RS4, i bought it with 27k miles on it. it was mental.. i loved it. Not standard though, it had 430bhp and could easily see off a M3 CSL as was proved on two occasions. It was however going to cost me about 7k a year to keep it on the road so i sold it.

In the first year of owning it it needed new duel - mass - flywheel, new gearbox, new rear diff, new variable valve timing gear and new wheels (hard) as soft ones keep buckling

As mentioned above they are just very different cars you need to drive both to make your choice.

            Darren.

If I had the money though, I'd have an RS2 AND an RS4, they are both great cars, just very different!!!!!!! The legendary 5 pot 20v turbo on the one hand and that sweet sounding V6 twin turbo on the other hand... lag vs no lag, raw vs smooth power delivery...

They are different cars, you have to be aware of the ups and downs of each one of them and drive each of them before you decide IMHO...

              Mihnea using Doug's PC again
It needs to be the RS2 'the original' with real character. I recall Gordon on our arrival at last years meet jumping out of his mtm RS4 and bemoaning the fact the RS4 did not look as good as the RS2.
However I think you are missing the obvious answer, Mihnea. An MRC tuned RS2 which gives you both sets of qualities.
RS2 needs big red brakes however to really shine !
I drove a standard RS4 at a main dealer. Really nice example and was not that impressed. Not much faster than my then standard RS2 better stereo tho'.

And forgive me for saying this but the RS2 is different as it's the only production car which was a collaberation between Audi and Porsche, and the RS4 is just an Audi (not that that's a bad thing, but you know what I mean and I did say forgive me for saying it!)
