    UK ellipsoids & driving abroad?

    Hi folks,

Taking the S2 to France in a couple of days, but not sure how to deal with the lights. For previous trips in the 2.8 coupe, I used the amber headlight covers for continental driving.

Ddumb question of the day is.....Do these work on the s2 ellipsoid lights?

    Cheers n

Ellipsoids have a black plastic lever on the reverse for switching the reflectors.

If it hasn't moved for a while it may break so be careful.

Fidley-ish job especially whilst waiting in line to get on the ferry, but worked for me.

Thanks chaps, I had no idea about the lever

I just had a look in the dark and also at the manual. Seems OK for the drivers side, but the passenger side is not a 5 second job due to the damn radiator cowl.

Now I understand your ferry queue point AAH!...looks like I'll be leaving an extra 15 minutes early, on top of all the other 15 minutes

Neither do some Audi dealers. There's one (which I won't name) who denied all knowledge that:
                  a. there was any such car as an S2
                  b. once that was overcome, that they were ever made with ellipsoid headlights
                  c. that any headlights fitted to an S2 had the little change over lever

                  Ck.

                    Hi All

ellipsoid headlight beam converter switch thingy.

I'm going to resurrect this thread as i am going to the ring tonight and want to know where this damn switch is, i've had a look but cant see anything. Dunno if i'm looking in the right spot though. Could anyone scan in page 126 of the manual as i dont have one so i can see where to look for it. Muchos apprecios.

I'll be leaving at about 6.40pm though so ideally before then would be great.

                    Many thanks

                    Stu

So let me get this straighjt.....you just push on the lever????

Does it need to be lifted? Just push on it is what changes the position of the reflecter?

Just feel below the connector on the bulb for a short plastic lever.
It will be over to one side. All you have to do is push it to the other side.
Be careful when removing the clip for the headlamp access panel - If it comes out you will probably have to remove the complete headlamp unit. I did.

                            Cheers.
