    Opinions please!!

    Hi,

more seiously looking at an S2. Been talking a little to 'Chris M' who's looking at parting at his '91 3B - seems like a great, well-maintained specimen to me; I've been watching S2s on ebay and the 'trader for months and this is the 1st that's really grabbed me since I've been in a position to buy... I know he's a known face on the board here and suggested I post to ask anyone elses opinion on the car!! It's a drive to the other end of the country for me to check it out, so to hear a few honest words of "you'll not go wrong there mate" is what I'm hoping for!! Cheers,

      Ross,

I know Chris and my mate from work Dog who I persuaded to buy one had it for 6 months but had to sell it because he couldnt afford the petrol for it.

The car body isnt perfect because its over 12 years old now but it is in pretty good nick. The engine is in excellent order and it has been well maintained. It has had a few minor mods done to it and a 280hp chip AFAIK.

When Dog had the car the rear diff mount sounded like it needed replacing but chris may have done this now.

All I can say is go and have a look for yourself.

Well, thanks for the advice guys... I took a trip to go see the car and what can I say?! I think it was love at first sight... damn clean in and out, minimal wear and tear as well - looked at a '98 A3, if I didn't know better I'd have thought the S2 was the younger of the two! Ran real nice, went like **** off a shiney shovel... oh and those 996 brakes... best not get me started 'coz I think I'm already addicted! Screw the clio idea; bring on the S2 Guess it's time to stop dreaming the life and start living the dream OK, that's my philosophical comment for the month.

              cheers

                  LOL don't jump the gun...

guess it depends on whether Chris can get the thing sorted in time for me to pick it up!! What's the deal anyway with Castle Coombe? I've heard a bit about it, guess i better go search the forum...

                  cheers
