Thanks for the welcome. As far a woman drivers jokes go, LOL
you'll get just as much as you give
These S2's have a lot to live up to, as im giving up a Mk4 n/a Supra

oh back to the dump valves... my bf reckons there's one without & one with a diaphram (EH... contraceptives in dump valves )
if this is true what the differance?
also he is ranting on about one of his mates reckoning on the VAG engines you can turn the dump valve around???

Please tell me as i dont want him fiddling with it
ITS MINE.... ALL MINE... (if all goes to plan tomorrow)

Wish i got a welcome like that dump valves im no expert like some of the guys on here
but some change the standard for S3 Audi ones make sure it goes on the right way.
As said before Forge are good and do a piston type and a diaphram type some last longer than others some react quicker and look better but you cant see em anyway.I personally
use a milltek which does sound nice imo not to loud .The s3 one can take over 2bar boost i think and they are plastic not alloy like the Forge.I may be corrected on some points .no doubt.Andy,

I am no expert on this, so will give you a non technical, but logical answer. Most others on here can fill in the technnical bits...

I just installed an S3 Diverter Valve, which was recommended as the best standard replacement (my car is not tuned). Whilst the Forge is supposedly slightly better, there are also reports of sticking pistons etc.

Also, the DV is hidden down behind the drivers side headlight, so unless you are planning on doing the full power upgrade and moving your entire inlet system around, it will never be seen, so why spend £80 on a shiney chromed thing, when an OEM S3 unit is £15 from VAGparts.

            Cheers n

            Si

P.S. don't let the bf near your car, until you've sent him on a VAG training course (these are not simple rice burners ya knows) and run every thing he intends to do past the experts on here first. The knowledge on this forum is truely astonishing

Welcome It looks like you go your self a 3B, congrats.

Those that normally refer to the looks or sound effects of the dump valve are normally referring to the ones which dump to the atmosphere, our S2s are recirculating and all I believe you need is one that reacts fast and that would be the diaphram type IMHO. I use the S3 one as well.

Anyway there are plenty of S2 Gurus on this forum who are far more informed and like they have helped me from the start they will surely be there to give good advise when needed.

Having four doors and a big boot comes in handy, also there´s the stealth effect (most people don´t expect to be beaten by an estate car) IMO.

I like the coupe also so no ranting please

                          Hello and to the forum.

Are you wanting your S2 to do under 4 second 60's??

As you'll find out, the quest for more power is a slippery slope.

                          Nice supra BTW

                          Cheers,

I'd luv him to do 0-60 in 4sec's

it is pearlesant. Not any mods, but my music is going in & decat pipes gettin sorted at the weekend. Then dump valve.
Someone on eBay is selling Forge ones for £20 ???? that seems really cheap.
Still dont know whether to get single piston, twin piston or diaphram > what the difference.... (but want a loud pppSSSSSStttt , have a thing about that sound)

oh one last last thing, are the steering wheels easy to cahnge. I need a slightly smaller one, as it dont tilt & im only little

ps... ive also answered about the colour from another post
been havin blonde moments all day, LOL

to another Alpine whiteS2 owner (best colour IMHO... but then I would say that).

                              DVs:

You should try and get either a Forge DV006 or DV007. These are the recirculating type and are made for the VAG 1.8T engines so they fit the S2 engine too. From what I understand they are internally identical and differ in outer case size.

Unfortunately the noisy dump valves are not really a good plan on the S2 as they confuse the ECU by leaking some of the air measured by the air-flow meter entering the inlet system and so make the car run poorly (rich?).

Another mod that made a massive difference to my car was the intercooler outlet mod know as the Mark H IC mod. This stopped a massive boost leak that I had and I've never looked back since. Linky

Not too sure about steering wheels but I assume a boss kit can be brought to suit. What are you looking to fit?

Hope you enjoy the 4wd over the winter. It's really rather good fun!
                              Cheers'en, AndyC
