A hello and soem advise :)

    Hello guys

Even thou ive been on the forum for a while Ive never really said hello

Well at the mo ive got a corrado 16vg60 which ive kind of given up on

I think next few weeks Im going to sell it on with standard G60 lump and make my money back on the other bits.

I was thinking of getting a S4 but a friend of a friend showed me his S2 and I was pretty impressed by it.

Bit like the corrado but a lot faster

Has anyone ever owned a corrado and moved onto a S2 coupe and how did they find it??

Also im thinking of getting a standard one and most prob first thing ill do is change the front brakes as my unwritten rule is that standard factory brakes are never up to the job (ive got S2 brakes on my corrado and im just about happy with them on that so god knows what I would be like on a S2)

Then I might do coilovers or something like H&R springs and shocks if that’s a good set-up to go for on a S2??? or does the standard suspension hold up well ??

and last and least I might get a rechip by MRC as ive heard great things about him on the S4 forums

but which of the two engine codes is better to tune and be reliable without going stupid??

and is there anything else like silicone hoses etc I should change???

Hello, welcome to the forum.... i went from a Mk1 Golf G60 to my S2, it all depends on what you are looking for, the S2 is faster but no where near as raw as my Mk1 was... its powerful, but very civilised... you could be doing over 100 and feel like you were doing half the speed.

Would love to see the 16v G60 tho!! Im an avid dub fan and may even know someone that would be interested in buying it as a 16v G60 if it was for sale like that, if you post spec etc i could let you know as he has just sold his mint Mk2 16v and is looking ar Rado's VR6 MK3's and Rallye's.

There is a huge wealth of information on this forum and if you have had a look the prefered option for brakes are the Porsche calipers from Boxter S, or 993TT etc.

Both engines are as reliable as the other, however i prefered to get a later one mostly on there are a few bits that it has as standard that i wanted, coilpacks instead of the standard dizzy, projector headlights etc. But there is no real difference in terms of reliablity etc, just depends how they have been looked after.

I have a generic MRC Remap in my car and im very happy with the performance gain it gives, ive still not had it Rolling roaded but you can feel the difference, so its very noticeable and Mihnea and Doug are both very helpful in my experience and in many others.

Silicone hoses are available for boost hoses and water hoses and from recent debate these are available via some forum members from either SFS or Samco in your choice of colour.

IMO you wouldnt be disappointed with an S2, its so comfortable and quiet with a lot of grunt but with a few mods can be made even more powerul and raw.

thanx guys for the great welcome

i am on the 16vg60 group but same name aposegil im actually on 32 forums with that name lol as i used to run the E1K-AceCafe meet and posted everywhere so a bit of a post whore lol

also thats what im looking for even thou ive had 5 years of great driving in my corrado ive jsut had enough and honestly cant be bothered (piston went) buit got a new block with JE low compression pistons sitting in my garage

in my sig is the info about my car

but i nonestly dont think ill be selling it as a 16vg60 unless someone really wanted it.

The corrado is going back to body shop hopefully this weekend as a few things needs touching up from when it was done two years ago otherwise its near perfect with cream beige electric heated interior koni coilovers S2 front brakes etc

but i just want something more grown up now and i think the S2 is the way to go as its still nice and powerfull but no so in ur face liek the corrado.

Yeah all i ever heard about MRC is amazing stuff and i do think ill go for the porsche setup as ive seen that on S4's just have to do some home work and i dont mind getting my fingers dirty

            Hi

            Hi Alex,
I was about to pop down yesterday to Ace Cafe and see what happens there
But "She who has to be Obeyed" would not let me out to play.

back to topic. I used to own both a Corrado VR6 and S2(3B) coupe both
at the same time. . The VR6 was standard and fully loaded but S2 was modded.
The Corrado felt so light and nippy and was my first choice for driving around
London (traction control was useless most off the time until Eibach suspension) but when i required raw power and traction, S2 was in a world of its own.
Corrados r alot easier to drive and very refined and i miss that slick
cable gear change. It was always her first choice of car and it's now become
a classic/collectors item too. i dont know much about G60s but
u can always hear the supercharger whining away.

Al i would say is try an s2 out first because they can be very addictive
(and expensive). its a different driving experince all together.
I still have an eye for a Corrado VR6 but i still keep in contact with my
VR6 as i sold it to a Doctor in surrey and he loves it.
            Thats my two cents contribution

                    Hi Alex,

I run a stock S2, although an Avant, along with my almost stock VR6 and agree with most of what Charlie says. The Corrado is nicer to drive, it is lighter and better balanced, but for sheer power the S2 wins hands down, and unless you go crazy with the mods, which would be quite unlike you, then it is also very reliable. It is the same age (more or less) as the Corrado though, apart from aircon it offers the same level of toys, and so if you do want something much more grown up and comfortable it may not be the ideal car for you. Give it a drive though, it may hit the spot.

                    Cheers,
                    Steve

thanx Steve I knwo what you mean but y engien nothign like a VR6 its just a mad 16v and like the reviness and off course the S2 engine is a 16v engine with a extra pot and i was going to drop the charger and put in a turbo to make it 16vT but cant be bothered now

plus all that power on front wheel can get silly sometimes hene why i was looking at the S4's before and S2's

as for the mods i want to keep it sensible as ive done the silly ones on the corrado and its just to much headache but the Re-chip suspension and brakes most def will be done over the years

Alex, im not that far from you if you wanted to have a go in it so to speak, or come along to one of the meets, there is a track day toward the end of October that would give you a good chance to look over what various people have done from standard, to mildly modded to just plain and simple craziness!!
