My brother is young and got very competitive quotes from Elephant on his S2 - but make sure the RS2 is an agreed value wherever you go.
Not necessarily mate, most good insurance places charge you the difference between standard and new modded bhp spec.

    So thats £85

Adrian Flux used to do this and HIC.

Adrian Flux did not do that in the last 3 years - When my car was RS2 spec - they said it would be cheaper to insure an RS2.

They did because they did it for my old Volvo 480.

Found a bit more joy on this site then?

Have you tried elephant? There was also another company mentioned on RS246.com in the Audo Ownership section, i got a quote from them and they were a bit cheaper. Can't remember what they were called though.

A 10 year old RS2 should be approached with caution. IMHO I would only buy one from an enthusiast with evidence of money spent at a specialist (not main stealer).
You need to check the brakes as they can cost if needing overhaul/replacement. If you do not do this you can recon on spending up to £5000 to get it mint. To give you some idea of what may be needed here is my list off the top of my head in 2 years.
            New propshaft
            New exhaust
            New divertor valve
            New WGFV
Four new tyres to replace incorrect 245 on purchase, do check 225 are on as it saves £££
            New rear wheel hubs
            New rear handbrake parts
            Bonnet respray
New driver seat bushes (one of the cheapest and best fixes needed, no more seat movement on hard braking etc)
Caliper overhaul, new discs all round, will need new rear calipers. I choose to go big red which really sorted all my brake issues and allows easier access to the porsche parts bin (cheaper than audi via specialist porsche part dealer) Buy one with this option already
New door trims all 4 corroding from inside rippling the plastic again check these before purchase, easy to fix but expensive to paint well.
New konis all round to replace dying OEM shocks
            New fuel filter

            Lots of oil superunleaded etc

I would still not swap this car for anything. Still gives me a thrill to drive every day !

Do make sure you go into this with your eyes open and a reserve fund to sort items.

"you'll never get the slipper and pipe abuse!! "

You cannot complain about the RS2. Its a beautiful car to
look at and drive. alot more versitile than a coupe.
insurance wise the fact that it has a small porsche badge
should not matter. some insurance companies list it as low as
              group 18.
With an RS2 (or an S2) in my opinion it's the 60-160
that matters more than 0-60. (i refuse to cane my car of the
traffic lights or with a warm/hot IC.)

I agree with Alistair, the costs of sorting out an RS2 can be high.

I have had mine for two years and costs so far are:

Brakes: £2000 (complete set of new big reds and discs) worth every penny!
Milltek exhaust: £500 (still not sure I like it)
MRC remap: £500 and again worth every penny but do the brakes first
                6000 miles of Cambelts/water pump/servicing ect: £1200

and it does 16mpg but who's complaining......the look on the GT3 drivers face when i was still sitting on his rear bumper after 10 miles of spirited driving was worth everything i have spent on the car

LOL - RS2 spec Volvo? they would not insure the car to the cars value plus parts value for less than the RS2.

No it was 120 bhp standard and 225 modded, they insured it difference of bhp plus exhaust and lowering.

                              Thanks for the link,

Had a look and it seems a good example and the mileage does not seem to bad. I am still however trying to get quoues for one! A couple of companys have said a blank "no" and some do not have it listed on thiere database. Will keep trying though, and am looking for a quote below 2500 a year. Wish me luck! lol
