Now I never said the Integrale is better than a UR - just that its appearance has stood the test of time better. Maybe thats partly cos I see URs a lot more often.

      quattro

no way, if theres one car thats stood the test of time its the ur quattro ,it still looks amazing 25 years on, it really is timeless.Every time i open the garage door i think wow, my s2 engined 90 is much quicker(for now) but doesnt come close to the ur in terms of involvement and feeling and looks

Now don't get me wrong - I love 'em - but sometimes they just look dated somehow. Its some of the angles on the bodywork - not the lovely arches. I dunno really - its only when a see a truly mint UR with the right light and it looks truly sweet.

A true timeless classic to me is something like an AC Cobra or a Triumph TR6 - good curves never go out of fashion. In my view the sharper edged shapes don't age so well. The UR is a mild example of that, but when I saw that DeLorean last week it was even more apparent.

        Very subjective this one...

          quattro

to me uquattro is the best and one of the most significant cars of all time .A true audi enthusiast will always look up to an ur quattro as no 1 and if not i would say they are not true enthusiasts.

They are both boxy, angular cars.Just that the Integrale is a bit more squat being shorter.

I know what Paul means though..... Standing the test of time; when it first come out,or came about through evolution, the TVR 420/450 Seac looked the absolute nuts. All side skirts, vents, spoilers, splitters, wings, diffusers, deep dish rims etc. Trouble is though it just now looks dated, like 80's TR7 dated.

@quattroamm - You are missing my point... I just love the machinery of a UR more than its looks. Of course it is a deeply significant car - it inspired a whole generation (me included) and spawned an entirely new genre of sports car.

I'll just never say the UR is the best looking car in the world... An AC Cobra is !

Trying to say I'm not a true audi enthusiast because of that opinion is a little daft if you knew how much time I spent on things of an Audi nature... True that I'll never get onto the organisers committe of the QoC with such heretic views but such is life.

I agree with both Ammer and Paul. Love the Ur to bits and wish i could afford to have one aswell as my 90. It is the ultimate classic Audi. However, there's loads of cars i would love to have aswell as my 90. Like a Mk 3 Cortina GT (2 door) with a cosworth V6 for instance.:mischeif: Now that would (will!) be a proper classic. IMo obviously!

                Cheers

I would hate to insult quattroamm's Ur to his face....crikey!....but have to agree that the Ur quattro has better, sleeker and timeless styling than the very cool Integrale.

Integrale has always been my favourite car, alright its build quality is not upto scratch etc but thats all part of their character, go and test drive one or even take a trip to walkers garage near northallerton, they had an original S4 in not so long ago for 200k.
