    Celica GT4 Carlos Sainz

Just took the missus to look at one and she likes it!
    75k miles 2nd owner
Full service history from the same garage
Slight bit of bubbling on the rear of the drivers sill where it meets the rear quarter, couldn't find anything else to fault it.
Anyone BTDT with one of these?,
It's for the missus remeber, so it doesn't have to spit fire out the back and rip tyres off the rims, apart from when I borrow it :mischeif:
    Any experiences or warnings appreciated

ive had one, an st185, persoanlly really didnt like it very er... micra like. Big end shells go, check for obvious smoking (not a big kob just an ****) theyve got two cats one on the d/pipe one further down, expensive to replace. Usual stuff other than that, wont patronise but just the usual buying a car stuff. Oh yeah check all the electrics work, not there strongest point.

IIRC the Carlos Sainz edition was only produced in white and had a few extra horses..Would it have about 215bhp??

              Bry,

I think J (SR71) has had a couple of GT4s before the S2... you might wanna speak to him. BTW went in his S2 a couple of days ago and the brakes are sweet! look very nice through 19" rims

also, have you seen this website? http://www.celica-gt4.co.uk/

might have summat of interest - claims to have the precise specs etc......

              Tim

Don't worry BRY, they came in many colours!!! Often thought about one of these myself but with no 'S' in front, it's a no go!!

                  Email sent BRY.

Had 2. My JDM (Jap Domestic Market) cars were both bang on the numbers at the dyno. 232hp and 220ftlbs. Slightly higher CR than UK cars hence the slight power advantage.

Mine was not a CS or Grp A but had wide-body with wheel arches - more flared. 16" Volks.

ATA IC susceptible to heat soak with the IC on top of the block. WTA IC is better in start-stop traffic. My ATA IC split once. Easy to check as its right there. Check turbo. CT26 hybrids can run ~400hp.

                  Check http://www.fensport.co.uk/ for all your parts. They have a 3SGTE running 650hp - UK's fastest Corolla 200.4mph, 10.47 1/4 mile.

Never had any prpblem with mine except that the overboost function to ~12psi is far less reliable than the S2's. The knock sensors are a PITA.

The build quality is not Audi but I never (apart from accident damage) never had any issues with mine.

The downpipe does have a cat in it but it can easily be stripped out and replaced - well it took me all day.

Great handling like the S2 although I can claim to have turned one upside down...with my (ex)-wife onboard.

                    talk about stealth!

you could REALLY upset some people at traffic lights with that!! Imagine the shock on e.g. a porker owner's face as you CONTINUE to move away after shifting up into 2nd/3rd/4th/5th hehehehehehe

Have had a Celica Gt4 st185 Narrow body and an Mr2 turbo sw20 Before i came to my senses and joined the audi camp. I found out 3 weeks later after buying the celica that the block was cracked around the water pump, there were no obvious signs of it when inspecting the car on buying it though, had to change the engine on my gravel driveway, bought the engine with no ancilleries for £700 from Fensport. Ive never seen such a huge gearbox it was bigger than the engine. Had no problems with the Mr2 and that had 270 crank hp, my god it was so fun just like a go cart but a very slippery rear end.

I had an St185 Carlos Sainz edition from germany, with wide body and Water-Air intercooler! Was very nice car! It was heavy! The only problem we had was the wheel bolts! The former owner had whell spacers (these thing to place the wheel outer) and he used longer bolts probably not so quality product and some of those broke when forced in a wheel change!

                          Greetings
