    Hey Phil

Your mag is currently being printed! It will be with you next week all being well - we had to delay printing because of advertising, hope you can understand. If you can tell the other forum members I would appreciate it and I will be posting a message of my own shortly.

    Best wishes!

    David

I hope to be eating my hat on this one, as I would love this magazine to appear as this David character has promised (I for one promise to buy it if it does ever appear), but let's face the facts....

          1. Every now and again, the Editor used to appear online with a blatant advert, for which he would get flamed. So he got clever, he waited for the last flaming to die down, then came online with an offer to this forum. He promised that the main target of the magazine would be UR's and S2's.....ummmm.

          2. Then he offers a photo shoot - never happened as far as I know. These are not hard to arrange, there are plenty of locations available, loads of willing S2 owners, but nowt happened We then pushed him on this. Many offered to take a day of work....nowt. We suggested that he turn up at shows, so he does not have to arrange anything or hire anywhere...nowt

          3. The website has not been updated for months and isn't even finished...the pages do not scroll. This is not hard to fix, just need to remove the marging control (
          margin-bottom:.0001pt

          4. Based on the number of the rarer cars, such as UR's, S2's & RS2's etc in existance, I cannot see how they will manage to maintain their promise of keeping true to the older cars. They WILL end up pandering to the masses, as that is where your largest and therefore most profitable market is. That means S3's, S4's, TT's, and even worse, TDI's and standard models. However, that is market that may not be able to support yet another also ran, so they must find a niche with mass appeal...now that IS a challenge.

Also, being UK based, I doubt that they will pick up enough offshore interest to bolster their readership enough to 'stay classic'. This can be addressed, but takes time. Does a new publication have time?

I conclude that this magazine is never gonna appear, and their challenge is therefore to prove me wrong ! (and I hope to god that I am) BUT, so far they have not and I have been making these same comments for over 6 months.

          Cheers and

IIRC, there was a big push to sell this magazine on the quattro Owners forum about 18 months to two years ago. Many people subscribed with the promise of getting a limited print of a ur with the first issue. MAny reasons were given, but the magazine never happened.
Like most I would love to see a new magazine dedicated to older models where information on modifications and perhaps more importantly, where deleted parts might still be available for some of these cars might still be obtainable ( I am definitely having problems with some bits for my typ 85 saloon).
As soon as it appears in shops I will be buying it to support such a venture, but I have serious doubts as mentioned in post above that it will ever come into fruition.
            Just my twopence worth.
            Cheers.

Great posts guys and I have to agree with you. No one likes to hand over cash for a product that they have not even seen yet.

This could be partially resolved though.

Lets see you at Castle Combe this Saturday for a feature on the S2 Forum turnout David!!!!

Again, I am more than happy to be proven wrong.

              Cheers,
