Just wanted to post this so other users (new users obviously) are aware of this particular company.
Long story short, a mate and member of this forum asked me to view an S2 for him. Had a quick scoot up last night and wasn't prepared for the story behind this sale.
92 3B coupe, for sale with a borked turbo. I got the idea pretty much straight away that they (actually owned by the lady of the household) were reluctantly selling the car. They had just had enough and were throwing the towel in.
They spent just over £11k in three years on this car, all down to them not knowing where to take it and who to trust. Pretty much everyone that has worked on that car has had them over a barrel. Even ECP charged them £450 for two elipsiods.
Last straw was when the turbo popped two day after getting it chipped. She was driving the car at the time, changed from 1st to 2nd going onto a roundabout and the car decided to rev to 7k
this left her trying to control it round a roundabout at 7k in the wet in 2nd gear, How she managed to not total the thing is beyond me.
This company is an agent for the well known "poor" chipping outfit that most of you will know.
So, said local companies idea of chipping it for them was to;
1/ Disconnect WGFV.
2/ Add bleed valve
3/ Replace wastegate spring with a stronger one.
4/ Blank off DV
5/ Replace fueling chip (just the fueling chip mind)
Now this is the cruncher, all this for £900 of their hard earned
That in my eyes is a crime.
They said it must have been part of the DV that has broken off and gone through the coldside. But hang on, they removed it and blanked it off
Anyway, they've washed their hands of it, now saying turbo must have been weak and not able to stand up to the "uprated" boost pressure of 15psi
Turbo was refurbed in April at AET so that's not the answer.
Time for a name and shame.
Turbopacs in Durham.
On a happier note, looks like they are going to keep it.
(everything put back the way it should, remove all traces of turbine bits and a helpfull shove in the direction of this and other forums)
