Ive had some custom 3" pipes made for my coupe :mischeif: So ive got a pair of scorpion de-cat pipes, and a miltek Y piece going if anyones interested, for an ABY.
Also while im at it ive got 4 OZ super Ts 17's 5stud going to.
@Azman: No wont fit a 7A, ABY has dual cats. Only cat replacement i found for the 7A is made by Stebro in the US, think it was about $300 which is rather pricey. If you can wait till the summer i'll sell you mine

Or do you know how much a complete system would cost and where I could get one made. On eof the local guys (Custom Chrome) in nuneaton has said £500 for the exhaust man back and £500 for the maifold.
Is this a good price or not???

Sounds expensive, i think some guys on here got systems made up for half that amount
If your car is 1991 onwards i would change to the early 5-1 tubular manifold, no need to go aftermarket or custom as its a great piece of kit (see avatar), cat bypass would be made up easily by any exhaust centre.
The middle section of the exhaust is unique to our cars, it looks the same as the 10v motors but is a wider diameter. There are a few systems in the US for our cars, Stebro, Brullen, but i never liked the look of them, only i know of in Europe is Paul Fern in Luxemburg. His stuff is cheap and really nice quality.
Noise will always be a problem with a NA setup, i'm using a resonator in place of the cat, stock middle section, and a CAC back box and its just about tolerable. I didn’t see enough of a gain from chancing the stock middle piece to be bothered.
If you take the cat out make sure you get a resonator put in its place, a straight pipe will resonate like crazy around 3k rpms and drive you nuts. Especially at 70 on the motorway. My original cat had gutted itself and acted like a megaphone

Sorry for the delay i got K O'd buy the flu thats going round at the mo. But Back with it today so il get back to all your PM's today at some piont ok guys.
My car is 1990 but does not have the tubular manifold!!!!!!
Seems strange everything I have had dealings with so far seems to be a bit of a cross between the early and later models some from one some from the other. Either someone has played and changed bits (which I don't have reipts for) or Audi had a laugh putting this one together!

Azman does your car have a rear anti-roll bar? 5-1 manifold and no rear rollbar are pre 90 models in my experience, post 90 have a rear bar and the cast manifold. ECU and idle valve are different between models too, thats all i can think of right now.
Some 88 US models had a different front rollbar mounted directly onto the a-arms too
Wait till you start listing the differences between CQ and S2, some very strange changes there to keep you busy :mischeif:
