modding engine on 7a

Depends what budget you have????

You can turbo it with the bits from a 3B.

Or you can supercharge it like I am.

Other than that if you don't want any major modds get a remap to give you just a few extra bhp and a better air filter. K&N do a replacement filter which just replaces the one in your airbox or you could go conical etc.

i never got round to trying it as the ecu needed a remap for it to perform correctly

what sort of a job is it to do a full 3b conversion in a coupe quattro?? what parts would i need ??? whats the damage on the bank balance???

I think that the majority of B3/B4-> S2 conversions are in North America, since Audi of America never imported the S2/RS2...

There are shortcuts available and much, much more info available now than when Brandon tackled that conversion....

Waynecoupe. The question on cost should be how much do you want to spend? Find a breakers and ask how much for the engine and all bits (turbo, maifolds, loom etc). If you can fit them yourself then you will save a packet. I am shortly going to do this with Will as my signature suggests.

ill be doing all the work myself its just the wiring that scares me a little!!!!!! does the loom just plug in or will splicing into the original loom have to be carried out? ive recently done a 2.2 kv conversion in an old type 85 and that just plugged straight into the fuse box and runs fine

From what I know the loom will have to be replaced along with the ECU. Wiring scares the s*** out of me too and I always stay clear of it. Anything else goes. Speak to Wab as he has done this himself and is about to change to a V8 when I get his engine.
