I was staying at a mates in Twickenham and it woke me up! I thought something had fallen off the roof. My girlfriend said "Was that an earthquake?"
Glad to hear there are no major casualties.

Yup - less than 10 miles from the fire. The bang made me jump and woke the other half from her slumber. Felt like someone had dropped a big metal skip on the roof. Whole building shook and the TV aerial continued to vibrate for several seconds. Very odd.

Even at about 8:30 in the morning (yesterday) when I nipped out to get a paper the local petrol station had the longest queue I've ever seen.

Can see the smoke plume from the window... not good.

            Ck - windows shut.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

I love that - 1st sign of a crisis and they go queueing for petrol. Cracks me up. I certainly wouldn't want to be living near those fumes. Amazing inferno. Gotta wonder how long that will burn for !

Well I can smell fumes from down here so I'm pretty sure it must be awful living near by. Hope everyone in the surrounding area is ok.

I heard nothing and felt nothing in Richmond, although when I woke up I did think the sky looked pretty darned spooky

I guess petrol prices will be going up again?

Amazing that no one was killed. Does anyone know what caused it yet?

A spokesman for Total denied that there had been leaks and the police investigators don't think that it was caused by terrorists either, it was just an accident they said...

Fortunately it seems the panic didn't reach Hampshire... Tesco's had no queues and plenty of 99RON and it was only 90.9! Good job coz I'd have had troubles getting to work this morning as I was nearly out...

Not sure if it was the explosion, but I was @ work in Basinstoke and there was a little vibration in the roof about 6am or so... my colleague was intrigued but I put it down to the heating system. However 5 mins later and the news was reporting the explosion; I was sceptical that could have anything to do with it.. but if it was felt in France then who knows!!
