my favourite bit was the fact that if you let a Mclaren F1 get to 120mph BEFORE you set off in the Bug..... you'd STILL beat the F1 to 200mph!!!!

The car is awesome. I reckon that engine could do way more than 1001ps too - if you think about it that's 250bhp per 2 litre 4 cylinder block?

Apparently the real engineering masterpiece of the car is the gearbox?

that's what clarkson said, but i reckon the clutches must be pretty funky too. that's a fair bit of power to be harnessing.

i dread to think what the power in the engine is - i assume the 1001bhp figure is at the wheels??

I read in a magazine that the engine actually "thermodynamically generates closer to 3000bhp" but that most of that is lost through the radiators, through the exhaust and of course through the transmission. I also read that they could have got way more power at the wheels if they'd wanted, but the target was 1000, so that's what they got...

The rear spoiler - it's also a fullym effective air brake - it flips up vertically and apparently contributes quite significantly to braking effort at high speeds

I red somewhere that the car actually could produce 1500 bhp but it was only capable of producing 1500 bhp by reducing the weight even more wich is nearly impossible because all the best and lightest materials already have been used...

It also produces a lot of drag wich slows you down...

Bet that air brake has got to be made of pretty strong stuff. A 250 mph wind would be quite powerful . It'd blow me over anyway
