Visiting the USA for 7 Weeks

I have the good fortune of going to Florida for 7 week in January on business, sure beats the weather in Blighty.

Will miss the S2 though, especialy if it snows.

I would be interested in knowing if there are eny event happening in Florida over the period I am over, ( Jan 07 - Feb 22 ) It would be nice to meet some of our friend across the pond and I, no doubt, will need some alternative entertainment other than the sight and sounds of Orlando.

Guys + Girls please check your diarys and post any events with, info you can.

    Many thanks

    George

How about the 24 hours of Daytona the last weekend of January
Bring a jacket because it does get cold/cool in Florida during that time of year.
The Daytona 500 is the weekend before you are scheduled to leave.
Bike week is being held during the time that you will be in Florida.

I'm flying back to sunny ol' England the day you arrive!

If ever you get the chance, visit Old Town in Kissimee on a friday night, the car parade is amazing if you are into Mustangs/Cobras/Chargers, etc...

        Daytona

Daytona is only 60 miles away from Orlando so looks a good bet for a day out

Kissimmee looks good and only round the corner.

        Thanks

        George

Orlando will get on your t*ts after a while... Unless you can't get enough of theme parks. Kennedy Space Centre is about an hour East of Orlanda - its a good trip.

The Florida Keys are much more chilled - quite a drive South from Orlando but I dunno how much is left after the last hurricane blew thru.

There's one or two 'warbird' museums (~Jacksonville from memory) where you can view WW2 and other planes up close. If you are mental enough you can even pay to fly in one !

I would avoid Miami like the plague - well maybe you should cruise the strip along South Beach once just to say you been there, but Miami just tries too damn hard to be cool or something. Horrible place...

If you like wildlife there tons of options involving dolphins, 'gators, manatees and such.

Don't forget the gulf coast either - Destin is sposed to be nice !

          Just my 2c,

There is a place called Flying Tigers in Kissimee which is a historical war bird museum. They have alot of nice planes but sadly alot of the extremely well maintained and very well restored planes got damaged in the hurricane but they are currently building them all back up again.

Last time I went I flew a Havard/Texan. Its a 9 cylinder radial engine and sounds superb and the beauty of it is that they actually let you do all the aerobatics, they are only in control for take off and landing.

If you happen to like ladies , take a visit to Pleasure Island which is owned by Disney or some of their other property, such as The Boardwalk and Downtown Disney. Its not all Mickey Mouse and themparks, they have some great restuarant there which are at a fraction of our costs.

                Need More Information

The Doll House in Ft Lauderdale is the den of iniquity you'll be wanting to visit. Really though, talk to a cabbie to find the nearest "Gentlemans Club":mischeif: .
