Anyone ever put heated mechanism in non heated power seats?

really interested to know if it's possible to put in heated pads from used seats into a set of recaro seats that do not come with heated pads but do have full up/down power.
    Cheers mis amigos,
    _Anton

I am interested in this as well. My Coupe quattro doesn't have seat heaters. I pulled the heating pads out of a Cabriolet at the junkyard. I also got the switches and some wiring harness from another Coupe. I may not have the harness from the relays to the seats, if those are separate from the harness from the relays to the switch.

I suppose I want to put the pads into my existing seats, but my passenger seat is torn so I may replace them with something else.

it can be done.as you can see,the seat heaters resemble the bed electric heated blankets. All you have to do is take the seats to some shop that does seat retrimming and ask them the cost to take the cloth/leather out,put in the heaters and then put the cloth/leather back on.it is no big deal.

the electrical connections are the easy part. After you get all the necessary cables, you either connect everything with a stock fuse(i dont remmember which one is it),or just connect it randomly to a positive and let the switch to the job.

I was thinking of doing that back when i had my 80 B3 but decided not to cause you dont get too much cold here in Greece. However now that the rs2 has them, they are pretty cool even for those random cold winter days!
      cheers

I think it was done at the garage meet a couple of years back by stick insect and he bought aftermarket heaters to go into standard seats. take a look in archives

Thank you. I was looking for more DIY experience and comments, in addition and similar to what Phil Payne has put up here. http://www.isham-research.co.uk/quattro/seat.html
