Advice Please - Scraping Thudding Noise

Hi All, This noise i noticed yesterday, was not loose wheel nuts ?
Noise is from the back wheel area (drivers side) Looked at the brakes, & im sure
there is still meat on them. If it is the brakes, what will i have buy to replace them But if it aint the brakes, any idea of what it can be.

If the brakes were down to metal, i thought the discs heated up, seemed fine ?
But the car does feel strange tho

    Cheers

Have you definitely checked the rear pads?

If its not that, the caliper may not be returning properly and leaving the pad sticking to the disk.

Jack the car up, Take the wheel off each side and try to rotate the wheels. Which one is making the noise?

Come back and let us know what you have found...

    Cheers,

    Steve.

Im not sure about the thudding noise but everytime I get a scraping noise its a small stone thats found its way and wedges itself between the caliper and brake making an awful noise.

And i would definitely avoid Kwik Fit, they know how to rob a person blind and tell you it needs 2K worth of repairs, when it probably only needs a set of 60 quid pads. All experience (and arguments on other peoples behalf) with kwik fit has been bad, i am sure you must live close to one of these helpfull chaps on the forum who might be able to help, or advise.

First thing I would do is check the actual disk. If the pad is worn down to the metal, then it would scratch the disk. Check your disk, see if it has an extra mark apart from the usual one form the pad.

wheel been off, there is plenty meat on the pads, cant see any gouges on the disk either. Kwik-fit cant look at it till tuesday, but need it before then.
Will have another bash tomorrow encase there is summit stuck in the shield.

Other than that i aint got a clue whats up. Brakes feel fine aswell

i agree with wab, sounds as if the exhaust is touching the rear driveshaft, ive had this problem on several quattros, new set of heavy duty exhaust rubbers should sort it...
