Auto? hmmm you'll always want to change it to a manual, plus they are a lot more thirsty than the manuals.
The S4 V8 is very nice plus it is very rare in the UK. Would really like one but don't fancy going to Spain to get one!!! They never made a RHD V8 also.
The V8 was on ebay.co.uk a few days ago with a 9 day listing but was removed by ebay a day later, now it is back??? I am not saying anything was wrong but I found it bizarre????
Please tell, i have use the vagcom to get anything out of ours

One good thing though with the S4 is that it is very easy to wire up the engine check light to read out fault codes from the ecu. The light holder in the dash does not exist and needs the holder from the earlier MC engined 100 but the loom and light fixture are strapped neatly behind the dash.
I have the complete instructions should anyone want/need them?

Yes you can use VAGCOM the same way as most other Audi's via the 2x2 connectors in the fusebox but the S4 (pre airbag) has this little trick up it's sleeve to allow it to do it itself.
"Gavs20v" had a urS4, very fast family wagon it was too. Very understated and a complete stealth machine. I agree with Corey ref the UFO brakes. Gav had loads of people ask him why the car had drum brakes fitted at the front whilst at a show the other year. You could actually see the red mist forming

If you have UFO's on an urS4 then it is not an easy swap to Mono's as it entails the removal of the front hubs to be machined down, or a complete swap to the later HP2 strut from the S6.
But they are a good car (with a few choice mods to improve) but be careful what you pay as (IMHO) they are not worth that sort of money though saying that they are worth whatever someone is willing to pay.
How so? In some ways, it was WAY ahead of it's time.
Nothing wrong with ufo-brakes besides they are pricey to replace but are very easy overheated and warped.......i swapped to S4 V8 brakes on my S4 salooon that was fitted with ufo brakes. Took me 5 hours from start to finish with that "brake swap" But it looks alot better now with "normal" brake calippers and large "normal" rotors

I agree with you Geez, very thirsty in comparison with a stick shift BUT I do like the lazy drive of the slushbox especially now that I know that mine is..........err...tweaked which makes it a little easier to live with
Best consumption I have had was 24 mpg done mainly on a Motorway journey but around town we are talking mid to high teens
Remember reading something in a magazine that the UFO's were sometimes known within VAG circles as "The Great Ingolstadt Brake Mistake"
