Flames !!!

Evenin' everyone,

As I'll be having a turbo back 3 inch ss exhaust system with two silencers custom made soon enough with a separate wastegate exhaust, I'm worried about flames coming out of the main exhaust and even worse, coming out and licking the door's paint from the WG exhaust that will be coming from behind the front wheel...

Has anyone been told that their exhausts are producing flames on gear change under hard acceleration ?

Any thoughts ?

Yeah, even my old Scorpion system with it's up and over the axle pipework + transverse silencer has been reported to spit flames on gearshift - it will get worse when I go to a twin "straight" system under the diff...

When I had a single muffler, catless 3" Scorpion on my UrS4, it would occasionally shoot flames in between shifts, and after one VERY hard gear pull, I saw a HUGE flameball out of my rear windscreen.

With my newer exhaust, still 3" turbo back, but with two mufflers and a cat, the flames are pretty much suppressed. The flame only lasts a fraction of a second, I doubt it would even hurt your paint, as my bumper is fine.

Yes aparently mines spits red flames.

i duno why, exhaust is as quiet as a mouse with a "jet" like sound and its a 2.5 inch system :/

Yes mine flames and pops sometimes too, with my de-catted Scorpion. Seems to do it more often with 99Octane petrol, or maybe that's just because I'm driving it harder...

I occasionally get on mine, 3" turbo back with 2 silencers & exhaust over rear drive shaft. Usually on over run but even then it is more of a pop and not a huge flame out of the back.

I also have a 3" exhaust from the downpipe, no cats, a single silencer behind the rear bumper and too get a lovely poping on gearchange. I wouldn't worry to much about the flaming as it is quick burst rather than a constant heat so shouldn't damage your paintwork

Not as loud as you'd think. It has a nice 5 cyl burble at low RPM, but it is loud at the top end (thats loud out side as its nice and quiet-ish in the car).
