a friend of mine bought a BMW 330ci and consequently had over £3000 worth of warranty work carried out due to the poor build quality. thats a good enough reason for me.

I used to own a 1994 530i V8 and I still own a 1986 320i M-Technic

BMW's aren't as bad as you might think ! From my own experience, if you like RWD they're your best buy.

For me, only Audi Quattro's are worth any respect if put up against a BMW.

It could be worse you know ! He could be considering a japanese or even a french car !!!

I think the older stuff is better quality. BMW and Mercedes recently dropped their build quality to try and hit the masses. This then caused a huge problem with failing parts, bad panel fit, rusting bodywork on newish cars. This has now cost them a fortune trying to rectify the problems and loosing clients to other manufacturers like Audi, Lexus etc......

I must say I like bmw's, not only the m-models but also there diesels. I think there are more great cars than only audi's. In my company we have two business cars, a volvo v50 2.0d (lowered, 17 inch, full cream leather and soon be chipped)and a BMW 320D (model 2006 , 18 inch 255 width) I have to say I love both cars. But ofcourse they dont give me the special feeling which the s2 does.
