Just bought my first S2 :)

Well I'm one happy chappy. Just picked up my first S2 today (on the back of a trailer)
The downside is that it is a cat c? (i think) write off (uneconomical repair)
Needs :-... nearside wing, bonnet, both headlights, slam panel behind bumper, 1 fog and 1 indicator (nearside) and some repairs to bumper (not going to even consider a new one, rocking horse smelly stuff rings a bell. I know from experience)
The car is a 94 aby in black with 94000 on the clock.
The car was involved in an accident with a wall...... hell these motors can take some punishment>>> I had a 1990 2.3e coupe 10v and I took 9 (yes NINE!!) meters off drystone wall out with it and got it back on the road with only cosmetic damage.
Managed to get it started (been sat for 4 months) with a jump from a good battery. Wouldn't move at first, as the guy had left the handbrake on, but sorted it with a few lite taps with a hammer on the rear discs.
There was a brief puff of blue from the back when she fired (is this anything to worry about?) but cleared and has not done it again after numerous restarts.
Let the rebuild commense (along with the 80 quattro V6)
Will get some pics up asap
    Oh and I only payed.............................................
    £2200 for it..

Bonnet will come from eurocarparts as they are near and quite cheap. I'm bidding on a pair of headlights on ebay at the minute and I'll get a set of clear indicators from ebay too. I've already got a wing in the attic (bought 2 years ago and not used.) Will have to get the slam panel and the fog from Audi I think.
The guy who repaired the 2.3 10v will probs get the work to do as he is a wizard with paint matching.
      Can't wait to get started.

Just make sure that everything you buy is genuine Audi, not only that but make sure that these parts are the right parts for your car as there are many variations of things like lights for example. I've known of people to buy things of Ebay only to find out that they are the wrong parts for their car

Yeah, wouldn't buy anything other than genuine Audi. Sent an email to the seller of the lights and she provided part numbers, which luckily match the ones on the car. The clear indicators from ebay are prob not genuine but I think they should be fine. May consider a secondhand bonnet if I can find a good one. Will get the fog and slam panel from Audi and also the trim strips under the lights.
Trying not to think to far ahead (got to get the car on the road first) but I'll prob start to tinker with it (it is totally 100% stanard) soon. What do you think I should start with first apart from a bloody good service??

If I was you i'd give the brakes a damn good sorting out first. Remember that it's been sitting for a good few months so the pads might need a good cleaning along with the calipers.

I would NOT use non - genuine panels on my car! Rust is a problem, as well as the fact some panels are a poor fit. Best to buy used genuine panels.

Thanx for the offer Mike, have sent you a PM.
Had a drive of it this morn (not very far, and with everything taped up).
Said yesterday that it was totally stanard, but when I've looked under the car it has had the cats removed and a Y piece put in.
One question guys, Do all S2's spit flames from the tail pipes?? or is there something wrong somewhere. Years ago I had a Mitsubishi colt turbo, and this did, but that was cos it had a big crack in the inlet manifold I think (was a carb fed by turbo and not injection)
The S2 was puttin out brief shots of flame at about 4000 rpm on the overrun and was popping all the way down to about 2600 rpm ???
I have a fireblade with a race can, and this pops and flames when pushed but I thought cars were more civillised than that.
If it has not got a problem then I hope it never stops.....Looks and sounds bloody awesome.

Sorry if I give the impression that I'm mad (for taking it out) but I live in Weardale near Durham, and it has some of the most deserted roads in the north east. The car is still taxed and tested (though it prob is invalid now, as it was written off????) Graham will probs know where I live and how deserted it is, being from the boro???
Just wanted to have a go before I pull it to pieces after xmas.

The engine could send too much fuel out of celinders into exhaust.

If the Cats have been removed, then there's nothing wrong with the flames, its quite normal. Long may it continue
