Some guys on the AW forum have put these engines in their cars and have had marvelous results tuning them for more power. Especially the 2.7. Whats the ops of the Forum?

All I can say is, go for the 2.7T, large tuning potential

The 2.7 has been done before and I would say it's a better option. The 1.8T thing seems to have been done to death, just go to a VW meet

Here's some pics and the thread on motorgeek about the 2.7T conversion that my mechanic who's working on my car just did to his Coupe...

I know Wiz is going to hate me for this, but I decided to follow my dream so I decided to install the 1.8t in my brother's B4, and I picked up a 2.7t for my 90 CQ. I don't have too much time on my hands, with three running projects at once, but I really do plan on starting the CQ project this...

A lot of fitting to do but definitively worth it !

More tuning potential than 20vt? what's the weight difference?
              Cheers mis amigos,

Definitely more tuning potential than the 20VT. Not sure about the weight, I can easily move my AZR, but that may be more to do with the fact the sump is completely flat, so the engine is not slanted to the left like the IL5.

I had a 450bhp RS4 great car but to refined and definitely does not sound as good as the I5 the I5 actually feels quicker due to the savage delivery of torque.

they are both darn good engines....

2.7T would be better suited to the S2 i think. The 1.8T engine is a good engine and yeah its been done to death on the VW's, but hey it works well, i can vouch for that
                    Cheers,

                    Chris

The 2.7bi is a nice engine but differnet to the 20V/5. I would have one of each!

The 2.7T conversion is not hard to do:

That is mine Ant. That was at the start of getting it to fit.

We fitted it to get manifolds designed to fit 700bhp turbos in one.

It didn't stay in there - my engine is going back in soon after lots more mods.
