    Boost Gauge.... confused?

Hi all, ive searched the forums for info. Found input & read it.
So then began to search for Autometer Boost Gauge 5703 in "bar"
To match the other dials. But on one forum thread i read " its Bar "
but the 5701 is psi ?
But im confused about the vaccum, what is it......
i know its a dyson, thats before anyone says it

Have seen some VDO ones with turbo written on it.
and if i have to get a chrome surround, have found black surrounds for £4.99.

I dont want to pay a fortune for one, as im also needing a radar/laser detector.
(looking at a bonny boost gauge, i might not notice the hairdryer man in his van)

    Cheers
    Tina.

It is best to get a vac/boost gauge as the "vac" part shows vaccuum when the throttle is closed and gives a good indication of engine condition.

And for laser detection / gps i'd recommend a Road Angel.

          Tina,

When you are not on boost and at idle the engine acts very much like a normally aspirated engine. The effect of the pistons moving in the engine and they way the engine works it sucks the air into the cylinders which is why you get a vacuum.

On my car on idle is it typically 0.58-0.6bar vacuum at idle.
