    Stripping down the transmission?

The S2 is making a noise. It's a whine that increases with speed. I therefore think it's after the gearbox (or on the output side of the gearbox). It's about time I sorted it but I can't afford to get it done by a garage.

Should I attepmt this or save up and get it sorted by a pro?

It's also my thought that as so much power is lost in a 4WD system that by sorting and lubing it I might get some power back. What are peoples thoughts? Has anyone tested this out using a RR?

Please help and advise as I haven't been under the Audi yet (been under a fair few other motors before though, thankfully they weren't moving).

I'm not sure. Is there any way of telling without stripping things down?

It has been recomended that I change the diff and gb oils first to see what effect this has. What's the recomended stuff? Where can I get it from with out having to give up a kidney? Please help!

You can get it from most motor factors, when you change it make sure you undo the fill bung first since that is the one that usually sticks. Once you get that out you can drain it and refill otherwise your stuffed for filling it back up again!

If you are at the garage meet you could do it there.
