Yep, the after run pump

Just fixed mine.

The pump lives in the large water pipe which runs directly behind the fan on the aux radiator. When the system is activated (when water temp above a certain temp and the ignition off) the fan runs at speed 1 and the pump runs - I am told in the oppsite direction to the main water pump.

It is easy to test, just pull the 2 connectors off the afterrun swtich (on the water rail under the IM) and touch together. You will feel the vibration of the pump if you hold the water hose and the rad fan will run.

My switch was faulty, but cheap to replace. I noticed that my fan never ran after the ignition was off, no matter how hot the engine was.
