S3 versus S2

Just a bit of an anorak question to the buffs ,I have just read Audi driver ,the article about the S3 and it says that it is quicker than the S2 I thought the S2 was quicker are they right ,and before anyone says anything NO I am not considering a 3

I've never seen a standard S2 get beaten by a standard S3. They may have similar bhp but torque is way down

I don't think so. Especially if you take into consideration the average S3 driver.

Had an S3 bout 4 months back nowhere near raw power as the S2 is mate trust me!!And i aint even finished yet,lol.

I was Allmost as fast as a stock S3 with my old Mazda 323 GT-X 1,8 Turbo with 170 HP! It was very lighter than the S3 and had a closer ratio gearbox! He could very very slowly go ahead of me!

My mate just sold his s2 and bought an s3. He says its not as quick as the s2 and the s2 has more raw power. Got to say though i do like the s3 a lot. Love the way the arches flare and the recaro leather is quality.

My mate has a 225TT (same engine but slighter lighter than the S3) which cannot touch my standard S2.

As Mark says, similar power but poles apart in the torque stakes. I just cannot see how anyone can claim that the standard S3 is faster

what does the manufacture stats the 0-60 is on the s3? our s2's are 5.8 right? (aby)

s3 is ~6.5 to 60.

And no the s3 is not faster than a S2. the ones ive come up against were no where near performance wise

No way is the s3 as quick as the s2 whether its the older 225bhp or later 230bhp the s2 has too much torque

My mate had an S3 which put out 270bhp. I took him out in my S2 which is totally standard and he loved it. He said that my car felt loads faster than his and I think I even scared him as he started hanging onto the door when the speed increased.

He couldn't believe the grip we have on the S2's compared to his S3.

He was totally gobsmacked when we returned home and has now sold his S3 and has told me that there is nothing out there for about the £5,000 mark that would be as much fun.

He is looking to get one in the near future.

My standard s2 completly annihated a s3 tuned to 280 BHP twice in a 1/4 mile drag race in the annual Shetland Motorsport Club track day.

anyone have experience with the 250bhp Audi A3 3.2DSG or the VW golf R32 240?bhp.

Think i remember the Audi should be above the 6 sec. mark to 60mph/100km/h and that would make it slower than the S2?
