a cracked! Windshield

i Woke up today at the postal man cnocking my door to give the autodim mirror i was super happy in this beautifull heavy rainy day.

jump into the car take off the old one and here we go the windshiled got cracked the happiness has disappear

what can i do to avoid cracking the new windshield? did insert it wrong that it caused the crack? or its normal for an old glass to crack?

any help will be appreciated!

the mirrors are a bitch to get off and the chances of breaking the glass when attempting such a job is at best high risk. Remember the age of the glass makes it quite brittle and supseptible to all sorts of mayhem. My sympathies.

I too have done the same thing. You have to twist the rearview mirror off from its mounting...

i am sad cause i take it of gently then i saw a small hair line beside the bracket of the mirror arround 2 mm , i thought it was an old one then while i am refiting the new one it become like star , so i put back the old mirror and its not tigheted good now just to use it untill tomorow i hope it wont be an expensive windshield , i changed the one of the 80 b4 for arround 140 usd spainich manfactured. but for the a4 i dont know the price of it and oem one is kind of expensive?

I too have done the same thing. You have to twist the rearview mirror off from its mounting...

I donne it this way i twist it arround 180 degree from to the left side it get off easy but when i refit it start to crack , did your windshiled crack too? or it come safely?
