    Differential Locker for Audi FWD

Hi, i ask this question also in the Transmission Topics but didnt get any results!

Are there any Diff lockers for the Audi 80 1,6 and 1,8 FWD gearboxes, like the Detroit lockers, or the Powertrax??

I want to use it on my Racing buggy but cant find anything that is in good price and up to the task! The only one i found is the Pantom Grip but i dont think it does something!

    Thanks a lot!

There are LSD's available for 016 and 01E transmissions but I've never seen a totally locked one. There are some kit cars I've seen that use an FWD variant of the 016 running an LSD - think its a Quaife ATB unit. Not cheap but...

Thats the problem! I am fine with a LSD but it is too much for me and for my project! It is a Cheap-Fun project, not a high spec racing Buggy! These lockers are relative cheap at ca. 250 Dollars but they dont come for audis (at least the ones i have seen!)!

The Audi 80 FWD gearbox is an 016 or a 0E1 ? How can you tell what it is?

Anybody knows what the racing FWD audi 80 had?? I think they run in some competitions also in gravel!

i've known a few people around here have used phantom grips in budget built VWs. apparently it works quite well.

the problem is can it hold more than a month in the gearbox?? I would prefer something more rigid lime the ones i mentioned above! Dont forget it will be used in a Gravel Buggy so it has to withstand some abuse!

they were using it for street driven drag cars. held up just fine. iirc, car ws sold so that's the only reason why they don't have'em now. i'll ask one of my buddies who i KNOW had one this evening. basically, i've heard only good things about the product

Probably possible to to build a DIY manual lockable FWD differential, using components from a rear type 85 / 89 Coupe / 90 quattro rear differential.
