Reminds me a bit of that 4WD Mk2 Golf that had a suspension lift, can't remember what it was called now (Syncro something or other maybe?)

Yup. The Golf (and Jetta) Syncro had 'normal' suspension. Had big plans years ago involving mating a Passat 2.0 16v and my neighbour's Jetta Syncro...

Ah!, yeah I suddenly thought I'd previously seen a Synchro that looked for all the world like a normal Golf. Just 4WD.

Only ever seen one of those things on the road though, look a bit daft eh?

There are a couple of Countrys that turn up at various VeeDub shows - they actually look a lot better in the metal. Still not my cuppa char tho!
1.8, less than 100bhp, what's that all about? Skin and rice pudding come to mind.

                        Shiech ?

                        Oh - Shiek !

Sheesh would be more like it - kinda ugly looking in my view, but if they are built for the dunes then fair enuff they are gonna look a bit (errrrrr) different...

Had to park the allroad on a grassy bank today (air suspension is cool for that) - with the right tyres it would be a great car for a drive across a local desert !

Seen a few Polo off roaders in Germany and Austria, new cars! Not sure if they are actually 4wd though

That'll be the Polo Dune I expect. Yup, 2wd only, 1.2 or 1.4 petrol, or 1.4 tdi.

One for the erm... 'alternative' buyer. I guess they are nicer than a Ford Fusion or Rover Streetwise
