    3 points... maybe

    Hi guys,

I've learned it's best not to ask questions from insurance companies...

So just in case - what's the general consensus? Will 3 points cripple you with an S2 or are they generally quite lenient with less than a handful of points?

This is just speculation, but i think I might have got caught this morning. Empty road, start of a 30mph limit, rounded the corner to find a camera van parked in the bushes pointing straight at me. No time to react! I was travelling at approx 35mph (1400rpm, 5th) so it's really borderline. But I know of those booked at 35 in Hook...

ATM I have an unblemished license, but at 22 insurance is high already and I'm really worried! For the next few weeks I'll be keeping my fingers crossed!!

    Cheers

3 points should affect premiums barely, most people on the road have 3 points now because of the mobile cash machines. Get 6 and you are screwed. Cost me £1700 on standard S2 at 21 with 6 points

made no difference to my S2 insurance, still only only paying £360 fully comp inc business use, but bizzarely put the insurance on the Ford Ka runaround we have up by £10

I'm on eight points since being caught and getting slammed with five last year - but my insurer told me that the premium wouldn't change for one speeding offence, and sure enough it didn't (actually, it went down because I accumulated another year of no claims).

I have the second worst record of anyone I know and I can still (just about!) afford to insure the S2, modified as much as I like within BHP limits.

(Don't ask me about the person I know with the worst record!)

Have 3 points from 2 years ago which never affected my premium. Had a New Road Angel for a year now and not a single point since. Best thing ever bought (apart from my S2 that is)...
