whats the point of a snooper these days?

If you've got a TT with cameras marked you're given warning of the cameras off your known routes.
If an officer of the law is at the side of the road with a laser - you're done before you've got chance to react. They don't use handheld radar anymore do they?

six points in one month......... unlucky.....!.......?

Its so it gives me warning of them about. I had my old TTgo when i got
caught last month. I dodnt see the car either, he was hidden away
"sneaky " but if i had been warned then i would of been ok.
As most snoopers give a mile warning of these hidden sneaks.
It wasnt a ticket thru the post, he actually pulled me over etc.
96.summit (6 points) on his little black box on his dash, but my speedo was stuck on 120,
(hope paul gets it sorted on Jimmy)
& TT aint accurite on speed.
So i need the one that gives a decent radar/lasar function with good
distance warning. Will sell it on as ordering the bullit ?

I have a lot of driving to do next week, with very little time.
Am not a mad woman behind the wheel, honest

GPS is as near as perfect for speed as you can get - perhaps 1/2 a second behind..... but certainly alot more reliable than a speedo.

And unless things have changed recently, a Laser gun still only fires a thin beam of light out and waits on its reflection to calculate speed. The police only pull the trigger on a laser when they've got it trained on a car (usually the number plate so the beam is morelikely to bounce back). As a result, picking up a laser beam which hasn't been pointed at your car is pretty unlikely. If it has been pointed at your car, by the time your foot moves from the accelerator to the brake, the laser beam has already got back to the police and you're nailed.

Radar guns send out radar waves continually - and these bounce all over the place allowing detectors to pick up the scatter. But I didn't think they're used much anymore except it GATSOs?

Please someone correct me if I'm wrong - I looked into this several years ago and went for the TomTom instead as my warning system (it also has the advantage of pointing out my nearest McDonalds'!)

                  TT700 + bluetooth = phonecalls/handsfree & text

back to the speed thing, my bf got 3 points by a handheld hair dryer.
Copper was sitting with the gun with his arm resting on the window ???
(cruiser, but also unmarked coppers use them)

imho, speed limits should be reviewed, as stopping/breaking distances will prob
be different now, as cars are a lot better now *Rant Over*

got to go with Alastair on this, these days Laser is the weapon of choice for the boys in blue, which renders most detectors useless, I would go for a GPS system. Got a Road Angel and their database has the most common mobile speed trap locations in it.
