    S2 3B value ?

    Hello all,

I' m just about to sell my s2 and wondered what people thought current values are.

It was first registered on 1st Jan 1991 so its one of the first cars, on a H plate. 119000
miles, taxed and tested. All the usual kit plus motorised rear windows, pre select steel sunroof and (non functioning) a/c. Car has a good if not complete history but lots of receipts and old mot's to verify the milage. Probabely quite important is the work I've had done in the last year. Here goes: New in the last year (8000 miles) ; Cambelt, water pump, idler pulley, clutch, main radiator, aux radiator, turbo intercooler pipe, dump valve, wgfv, lambna sensor plus discs and pads and front drop links.
As is the case with a lot of s2's the car looks half it's age, exterior wise apart from a few stone chips it still looks great, no rust as you would expect. Apart from the drivers seat side bolsters starting to sag the interior looks great too, and apart from the cd stacker system and 18" rs 6 style alloys the car is completely standard. I've also got the original alloys to go with the car, could do with a refurb.

I bought the car a year ago so I could put my ur quattro into semi retirement and with that in mind I didn't mind replacing all the parts I've renewed. I hoped the car would give me several years service.

Unfortunately (not) I've recently bought another s2, aby this time with less miles and again in great condition. Car was for sale locally and I couldn't resist... I even managed to buy the same colour (dark metalic green) on 18 " alloys again.

As I'm sure many of you are aware it's hard enough to explain to your wife why you've got two cars, so three appears to be one too many, especially when two are exactly the same (so she tells me ...)

So the 3b is going to go. Paid just under 4K for it a year ago and as you can see spent loads on it. Gonna stick it on ebay and see if it fires up much interest, but also will advertise it locally. But how much ?

Would like to get 4k for it or am I being optimistic.

    Any comments appreciated

    Cheers,

    Grant

P.S. I think this is the first time I've posted on the forum but I've been using it since before I bought the 3b and lots afterwards for info. Just like to say it's been a great resource. Ta very much.

I would say 4k is fair...maybe £4.5 as the way I see it S2 prices need to be held stable or go upwards in general instead of dropping by people selling their cars cheap on the bay or wherever

I agree it would be good to try and keep values up.

If I try and sell on the bay it's because I want to target a larger group than advertising locally. I certainly do not want to sell cheaply.... but I do want to sell !

I think most people who are looking for a s2 will keep an eye on ebay, autotrader and other internet sites as well as keeping an eye on local papers. So going for blanket coverage would seem like a good idea to me?

I would say between 4-5k, certainly that's what I would be looking for if I were to sell my 91 3B.

It's a beautiful looking car and those wheels look cracking on it, looks in great condition, and low mileage with all the goodies so all good stuff. Non-functioning A/C may count a little against you as that can be fairly costly to fix if people want it.

Nice looking Ur beside it too

            Nice looking car m8

I would shell out to have the air con re gassed before you sell as you are removing a negative from the car and also a "knockdown" point.

its not that much round here (£100 - £150 iirc)

            just my 2c

Also. Although I use flea bay a fair bit the problem seems to be that people expect that it has to be cheap.,...jsut to be on flea bay if you get what I mean???!

Like above. I would set reserve at £4k and see what happens, Just make sure you have a pukka advert/auction with lots of photos and text detailing work done etc. Service history shot etc as it will need these for it to fetch sensible money IMHO

            Good Luck

Just a bit of a footnote.

3b s2 now sold. Accepted quite a low price but the guy who bought the car was very keen and travelled a long way to get the car. He's had plenty of Audi's in the past but never a S2.
If I'm honest I felt a bit like D1ck Turpin a few weeks ago when I bought the Aby S2. (107,000 miles, FSH, Excellent condition. Brilliant price : for me) So maybe it's fair that I didn't hold out for a higher price for the car I was selling.
Got lots of scam emails from the autotrader ad - 12 so far I think... so beware if you ever use it.

Should be a pic of my old and new cars attached, and yes I will get rid of the naff indicator side repeaters.

Now if Mr Nugent would answer my PM I'll be able to start down the slippery slope of making my S2 a little bit quicker.... Home fry please?
