    clutch pedal feel

When depressing the clutch it feels as if there is two stages to it .looking under the dash
whilst pressing the pedal the rod attached is made in two halves and it is kinking at the point of the bush which seperates the two peices .can this be changed or is it a major task or can any thing be fabricated to keep it straight ,hope someones knows what im on about .Got a feeling it may let go in traffic ,

I think this is a common problem, ive certainly read about this several times before on here, have a search. I think i remember someone saying about a repair for the rod but not sure.

Downside is, the ABY Master Cylinder is specific to the ABY model only and last time i checked was about £150, as i have a new one on my car, that said, my clutch is the lightest ive felt in all the S2's ive sat in.

replacement is actually v easy i found.

2 Bolts down by the pedals, made 10x easier with the rounded headed Allan keys, pref a long one, then undo the pipe on the engine bay side.
To get better access to the pipe i removed the intake pipe and didnt have an airbox fitted at the time.
Its relatively simple, just a bit fiddling, then just need to bleed the clutch afterwards.

IIRC VagParts were £99ish last time i checked, the killer is that all other Audi 80 Models Inc 3B are the same and are about £50, only the ABY is different!

Is bleeding a clutch same as the brakes and is there a special fluid because nothing can be simple on an ABY S2.

Leave me the keys when you are on holiday and I'll sort the brakes, clutch master cylinder, and the low mileage :mischeif:

I cannot remember what gear you select, but one gear gives good access to the bleed nipple using a 1/4 ratchet and a drilled out socket so the socket reaches the hex on the bleed nipple, using an Eazibleed takes about 10 minutes to do., and the master cylinder is easy to do, mine went exactly the same 2 years ago, kinking i the middle, once its out you will see where the rod has wore a groove in the cylinder wall, although mine worked like this for 2 year (Lazy Git ), it started groaning and failure was not far away.

i had this happen on my car too
took it of and in the groove the rod makes had a blob of weld put in there then cleaned it up thanks dremmel and bolted it back in place and a year on and no problems .. a cheap fix for me any way just make sure it never got to hot while welding and seals are still in good condition...
