    Issued by the Department of Transport

    Press Release:

    Due to the nature of the quality of driving in England the Department of Transport has now devised a new scheme in order to identify poor drivers and give good drivers the opportunity to recognise them whilst driving.

    For this reason as from the middle of May 2006 those drivers who are found to be driving badly which includes:

    -overtaking in dangerous places;

    -hovering within one inch of the car in front;

    -stopping sharply;

    -speeding in residential areas;

    -pulling out without indication;

    -performing U turns inappropriately in busy High Streets;

    -under taking on motorways and

    -taking up more than one lane in multi lane roads,

    will be issued with flags, white with a red cross, signifying their inability to drive properly. These flags must be clipped to a door of the car and be visible to all other drivers and pedestrians. Those drivers who have shown particularly poor driving skills will have to display a flag on each side of the car to indicate their greater lack of skill and general lower intelligence mindset to the general public.

          I think it's a joke taking the p*ss of all the "fans" putting those stupid sticky flags on their Astras in the lead up to the Association Football World Cup to show their "loyalty" to the team.......

          I may have just 100-nilled myself

              Why ?!?! Since when does football take precedence over everything else just because it's the world cup.
              I hate football ( or as I call it soccer ) and I'm proud not to be fan of a sport for overgrown morons who still like running after a ball for fun just like your average mutt
              I have actually complained to my employer about colleagues putting up world cup and national decorations around the office as it's a working environment and that I can't put up pictures of the cars I lke when they're racing so why is there a difference because it's football

              Ok, rant mode off, but if you feel the urge to respond unkindly to my opinion about football because "Football is untouchable and cannot be criticized in any way", go ahead but all you'll get in return is silence

                  We've got spreadsheets up as well. Sadly all they show is software performance stats and the patch (service pack) version numbers. The closest we're going to get on a sweepstake is probably going to be sweeping up the stakes from the last round of back stabbing.

                  I once saw (forget where) football defined as:

                  22 overpaid egomaniacs
                  trying to get an inflated cow hide
                  into a suspended fishing net

                  Personally I can take or leave football - no big love or hate of the game either way. I am kinda interested to see what happens when Sven's boys meet Sven's countrymen (England vs. Sweden) though...

                      @MidnightBlueS2 - I'm also pretty football agnostic to be honest. I officially "Went off Football" when I went to my first, and it would seem, last, England football game back in 2000. I have never been so appalled in all my life at the behaviours and attitudes of my fellow man. The hatred and anger eminating from all sections of the crowd was just horrible. The football match itself was also utterly dire!

                      I am very much a rugby union man, always have had an interest in egg chasing since a kid, but for me it has totally replaced football as my sport of choice. In rugby, I can go to a club game, or an international match for that matter, sit in my seat with a pint in my hand, sit next to fans from the opposing team and actually enjoy the banter. I can also mix with other fans without fear of having my head staved in by someone because I happened to express an opinion counter to their own, or be supporting the "wrong" team. Plus it doesn't (yet) have the baggage of constant "simulation", and the amazingly inflated salaries of players and managers alike.

                      Don't get me wrong, I will watch the England games in the World Cup and I hope we do well, but I won't be putting up flags in my house, or on my car, or on my desk, and I won't be going out down the pub to watch the matches either...
