    Hi guys,

Just thinking in this weather, did they do a quattro Cabriolet in the old shape (i.e. same as S2)?

No. You have to make your own.

Stationary at the moment with what has been going on in my life, as soon as a line has been drawn under everything and I have got back on my feet financially I will resume playing with it, going to be a long old process now though as I now have one hell of a lot more to pay out each month, (overtime gallore at work will help though)

        Cheers Ian

trust me, it was a breath-taking experience - I've been in some fast cars in my time, and that was well up with the best of them - but it drove passively at low speed

duno if they stiffened that one up at all but my dads got a 2.6 audi 80 cab and over a fast road its like a diving board, wasnt impressed at all

are the new ones any better? seen a new s4 cab sounded awsome with that v8 burbbling away, quattro as well

Even with 4wd the car has to be pointing in a completely straight line before the throttle is floored - as we discovered when we overtook a car on a slip road and ended up traveling the length of it with a quarter-turn of opposite lock..

                    Doesnt seem they did mate.......

                    - and we're inclined to agree. Under hard acceleration the Audi Cabrio is pushed to the absolute limit, and once the turbo kicks in at 3500rpm you can actually feel the torque twisting the bodyshell, pushing the wheels off line as you surge forward..

Imagine the weight of the thing after the conversion though. It would need aloy of power to keep up with an S2

Ironically, it was stiffened up when the floorpan was modified to take the 4wd system... It's just that the engine 'sort of overcome that - and some more'. It'd almost lift a front wheel with hard acceleration in a low gear.
