Help with battery cable route in S2 ABY

    Hi all.

I was wondering if anyone with a LEFT-HAND driver S2 could tell me the route that the main battery cable travels INSIDE the car to the rear seat battery location.

ALSO! The location that the cable COMES THROUGHT the FIREWALL, and the route the end take through the engine compartment to the starter.

Iam converting my USA Coupe Quattro 7A engine to a S2 3B engine spec car.

Some of these details I can't find info for.

Anyone who can help I would be MOST thankful!!!

    Regards,
    joe

I already have a cable from the 200 tQ donor car I took the engine from. I need to know the route the cable follows through the car and the firewall hole locations.

      Thanks Joe

        Joe:

Take a look through the dismantled cars on the www.totsteile.ch website...
You'll see that the cable runs through the firewall at the stock CQ battery location (put a 150 circuit breaker there for your starter wiring) follows the passenger (right side of the car ( when sitting in the car) door sill, goes under the rear seat and over to the battery box on the left side of the car....what I could NOT tell is where the ground lead from the battery attaches...But I do think that there is a mounting to the chassis close to the underseat battery tray)

Yep, confirmed in this thread: http://www.s2forum.com/forum/showthr...hlight=battery

Thanks to Jas11n for posting those pictures...a big help to those of us in the states that are converting our type 89s to ersatz S2s...

          Thanks Pete.

I went to Tots site but could not find any photos of the dismantled cars you described.

Could you send me the links to them or any photos you have?

          Regards,

It's difficult to find, but this thread of pictures may be very helpful:

and here's the view looking forward from the hatch - you can see the positive lead cross over to the right side of the interior under the rear seat then go to the front on along the right door sill.

                  Wow!

Very nice! Very Helpful! One more thing......

Do you or anyone else know EXACTLY where the cable for the starter exits the chassis "leg"? I can see the black cable hanging down from the one front-on view, but not sure the exact placement for the hole I have to drill out on that part of the chassis.

Many thanks again for everyones help!

                  Regards,
                  joe
