So Wayne Rooney makes his WC debut......

but as a sub off the bench. This ought too make the old man in Manchester pissed.
Rooney has been chomping at the bit and physios from both club and country teams have said he's fit. We will see.
Hope he scores today. It would be a sign to other teams BEWARE. The Lions are going to roar.
So far I don't see a dominating team.

czech republic have been the best side so far IMO. they are always great to watch. I can't believe Sven is stupid enough to risk rooney in what amounts to a very unimportant game in a 20 year old's life. foot bones are notoriously difficult to heal well - a guy i know had to have his foot amputated because the bones wouldn't heal and went gangrenous!! If england can't beat T&T without rooney, they can't win the Cup anyway TBH, and if he gets injured then (a) they may be without him for the rest of the cup and (b) it may end his career, which would be something of a downer for england for the next 3 world cups he could have played at!!

I think Sven is thinking about himself (i.e. wanting to risk all to win the cup for himself) rather than the good of english football.

          idiot.

          just my 2p!

          Tim

I agree, and being my other team I hope they do well!

Dominating F1, dominating mens tennis, it could be their year...

The Argies, and Italy have looked the most impresive IMO. Although Germany look as though they are gaining confidence , and maybe have luck on their side.

Still think Engalnd will win it though

And now for a quick gag.......

Ronaldo goes into Burger King and asks for 2 Woppers.
The bloke replies " Sure. Your not overweight, and you've stil got it......"

Well they took the win, but I don't think they have what it takes to go all the way unfortunately.

Kudos to Sven, made good substitutions. Lennon was impressive.

I am still very positive about the result. T&T had nothing to offer the game at all other than stick 10 men behind the ball and spoilt it. They hardly made any chances in 90 minutes.

Admittedly England did not look great until Rooney but more importantly Lennon came on.

However, for me the win was never in doubt and I alway believed we would break them down.

                    Summary:

Haven't played our best. goals conceeded - 0, goals for - 3, wins - 2 Best group stage for bloody years...

All but qualified without playing our best game.

                    COME ON ENGLAND.

You've got to be in it to win it.

                    Cheers,

                    Steve

Good shout Steve, agree with you there. Positivity is the way forward!
Personally i think Rooneys injury was hyped up and wasn't quite as bad as we're led to believe. There's no way they (Man U/FA) would have allowed Sven to play him if there was any doubt whatsoever. That said, when he was on the ball and was being tackled i did feel a tad uncomfortable.
Lennon was turning point in the match for me. When he came on the pace seemed to double and they finally began passing properly.

The most praise from me goes to Terry. He saved that ball from off the line and single handedly broke down the few attacks that T&T gave us.

                              Yes!

Personally, I don't think the game was that bad. If we have scored 50% of our decent chances we would have won 5-0. As it happened, it wasn't really our day and lots of shots just missed.

I genuinely think the English press and I include the BBC and ITV in this, are out to slate England wherever possible and make more of an adequate performance being bad than good.

We all know England can play better than that and we probably will. Bring on the knock out stages where teams will actually have to come on to us rather than playing for a draw....

                              Cheers,

                              Steve.
