What will it do for my S2? I've been wanting a chattering wastegate noise for a while now, but was wondering if its only really a product of a much more powerfull turbo'd car?! Theres one for sale on vagparts for £36, would it make a cool noise or is it more of a diagnostic tool?
Fail in that I could by a dump valve, just for a laugh!
...ever since I floored you I knew that I loved you!
search for WGFV on the forum for a full explanation of what the valve does, in answer to your question no it won't give you a chattering wastegate noise.
Had a look around but couldn't really find anything conclusive. What could I do to get that chattering noise on a standard engine- nothing?

You DONT want this chattering noise on your car......
Just buy a Forge piston dump valve. Top Notch bit of kit.
This is why you dont want it
Wastegate Chatter Myth
There is a common myth in the automotive world about so called "wastegate chatter", a noise created on lifting off the throttle in a turbocharged car. The sound is commonly described as a chipmunk or a rattlesnake. This sound is in fact caused by a component callled a Blowoff valve (BOV) malfunctioning or being incorrectly setup. The BOV releases the excess pressure (from turbocharging/supercharging) between the throttle flap and the turbo when the throttle closes. However when this volume of air is too large the BOV cannot release it all and the pressure is vented back through the compressor turbine. As the air passes back through the turbine the pressure wave is "chopped" by the still spinning turbine creating the fluttering sound that is commonly termed wastegate chatter.
I have just changed my WGFV and i seem to get more noise when i change gear and the pressure is dumper. Is it me just thinking this or could the new WGFV cause this to happen? If so could it mean my old one was faulty? Thanks

Thanks very much for that explanation. So that video of the S1 going around cones isnt a 'good' noise? And that norwegian S2 on the track, again not a good noise?
Who sells these Forged piston dump valves then?

The intake tract is the reason you cannot hear your wasegate it muffles the sound, when you remove all the old Kjet injection stuff from 10v ur's and install a standalone ecu and electronic fuelling sytem you want to hear the wastegate noise, it's worth it just for that sound never mind the performance gain!!!
But it is a totally different noise to a dump valve releasing the charge.
