    Evening blast

Just wanted to share this with you all.

I've been feeling fairly grumpy all weekend - can't explain that, just not one of my better weekends. Got to about 5pm on Sunday and I decided the only way to cure my mood was to take the S2 out and drive it just for the sheer hell of it.

100 miles later, a lot of petrol less, feeling much better

The car's running really nicely now, mostly thanks to Newsh's help with all the Samco and PCV plumbing, and last night it really rewarded me. I had such a good time - the car handles so well, brakes so powerfully and pulls so hard whilst making a great noise - what more do you want?!

Mind you, that lovely RS2 caliper vibration noise cropped up again, so nothing's ever perfect is it

I haven't driven my S2 for three weeks. It only just started because it had been left for soooo long. I have to refit my new rear caliper, discs and pads tonight as my Golf is at the garage having a new head gasket fitted...

I spent the whole of sunday fitting a new heater matrix to the golf and sorting out the heating / ventilation system.

The only treat the S2 got was a coat of P21s to try and make myself feel better.....

Hope I get the brakes fitted and bled tonight otherwise I will be on the bloody train!

Glad you two are enjoying yourselves though

      Cheers,

I have to join the club... I gave my car it's first proper "shakedown" since the rebuild to celebrate it's first 1,000 miles on the way to work last night

My trip to work included a quad-overtake manuevre from 3krpm - 7krpm in 3rd (I knew I should shift at 6,5 but it sounded incredible, and also the annihalation of a completely pimped out 5-series in an up-hill 4th gear run. I didn't even need to change down

I've never had such a smile on my face on arrival to work , and was proud that 330 miles into my tank of petrol I managed to reduce it's avg. from 24.6 to 23.5 in just 25 miles

I'll be in touch. I'm free evening toward the end of the week, and may take sunday off to go on a cruise to Castle Coombe if you fancy a joyride

I thought Coombe was on Satruday or is it all weekend?

I have no plans this week, apart from trying to get my S2 running again...

Let me know what you are up to then...

I guess it must have been the sun that
made us all a bit mad yesterday.

Got my car "homefried" a couple of weeks
ago but apart from a few short blasts not
really tested out Paul's work yet...

Sorted that out yesterday, family head off
in one direction, I head off in the other to
give the S2 a run out. Found a 911 and
attached myself to his bumper.Oh what fun,
I think he must have been out for a thrash too,
40 miles later though I think he got fed up
not being able to loose the "old Audi".
Sweaty palms and smokin' brakes but a huge
                  smile on my face

                  I can't recommend Paul's homefry enough.
Excellent value and the car even sounds better,
more like an early ur than the muffled sound you
                  get from a standard S2

Better mpg when you take it east too,
                  although not yesterday .

                  Aver.mpg - 23.8 Yesterday afternoon - 14.2

Even managed to hit the rev limiter a couple of times because
I was concentrating so hard on driving, not done that since I
                  was a young loon.....

@Fred - have you still got stock brakes then? Take care with stock anchors and a homefry, they fade like b*ggery without much more than a couple of high speed stoppers!
Great fun though isn't it, the chipped K24 - the spool up on the turbo comes up in such a nice surge in the low mid-range, great stuff

Yes, well spotted I'm still on standard stoppers...

Brake upgrade has now gone to the top of my to do list.

At least I'm used to planning my braking manoeuvres well in advance...

I've got a ur quattro, chipped/hybrid turbo and brakes that make the standard S2 set up seem impressive !

Well i sort of had a blast yesterday to. I went to newsh to see if he could diagnose my problem. The MAF was not completely tight and with a little clean out of the connectors it pulls like a train again. A big thanks to Jon for his help. No boost leaks either after a pressure test. Have to say though although mine was fantastic newsh then took me out in his and i wont say what speed we hit!!!!!!!!! Great cars (when they are 100%)
